We all know that Oil and Water do not mix and this same concept goes for your
makeup! If you use an oil-based moisturiser and a foundation that is water-based
or vice-versa, you are merely asking for trouble. Your foundation will break up,
leaving you a hot lookin’ mess. Take a quick peep at the ingredients in your
products, and if any oil is near the top of the list, then it is safe to say
that it is an ‘oil product’. If the oil ingredient is listed near the end or not
listed at all, it is likely a water-based product. So check your ingredients and
assure you are using like-for-like products for all your cream-based products
for a smooth, flawless canvas all day long.

Mixing foundation with moisturiser is an easy way to lighten your coverage
options if you already have a fuller coverage foundation.

Or maybe you want to add a natural luminous skin effect? Mix your foundation
with a golden or a pearly loose natural skin tone eyeshadow. It gives your
complexion a gorgeous healthy glow.

I am a firm believer that less is more when it comes to makeup but if you don’t
like going au natural, rather than a heavy foundation, look for a tinted
moisturiser, BB or CC Cream and use with concealer. There are heaps of natural
and organic ones around now which offer excellent coverage but are still quite
light. 



We all know pressed powder can look heavy and caked on if applied with a makeup
sponge. To help prevent this, try utilising a makeup brush to use. Better still,
switch to a loose powder for lighter coverage. Apply with a blusher or kabuki
brush. Best idea? Try bronzer to give you a golden glow no matter how long it is
since your skin saw the sun!

test lipstick shades on the pads of your fingers. Try three or four different
colours then hold your hand up to your face and look in a mirror with lights.
You'll instantly know what shade is right for you. It's amazing at how well it
works. That is because the skin colouring on your fingers is similar to that of
your complexion. Takes the guesswork out of drying lipsticks and lip gloss.

My top beauty tip is to choose the right colours for your undertone and eye
colour. For fresh tone eyes like blue, grey and greyish greens, choose warm

warm green, warm tones still look great, but you can also play with more taupes,
charcoals and navy. If your skin tone is more yellow, look for warmer blush
colours and if more pink undertones, peachy pinks and rose shades work without
adding too much excess redness.

My top beauty tip is to invest a good skincare routine. I often get asked how I
manage to keep my skin looking so bright, and it is simple; avoid wearing
foundation, drink plenty of water and be smart with your beauty products. Some
beauty products are terrible for you; for example, the amount of alcohol in
makeup wipes is astonishing. Instead, I like to take a damp cotton pad and use
Johnson's Baby Lotion- it does a much better job than makeup wipes anyway!

Getting the skin looking fresh and "like skin" is so essential and is the
foundation for the rest of your makeup. Take time to research and try different

Always curl your lashes as this allows more light into your eyes and makes them

My number one beauty tip is adding a hydrating mist to your skincare routine.
After cleansing, hydrating mists rebalance skin and prepare it for a moisturiser
or hydrating primer. I can always see a big difference in how my makeup applies
and sets when I use one. If your skin is dehydrated or you've been travelling in
very cold dry aeroplanes, it can help keep it healthy-looking and glowing. There
are useful mists at all price points, and some of my favourites are Jurlique
Rosewater Balancing Mist, Pixi Beauty Hydrating Milky Mist, Kiehls Cactus Flower
& Tibetan Ginseng Mist and Josie Maran Nirvana Hydrating Treatment Mist.

You need to have a simple skincare routine that you'll follow every day and not
want to skip. You shouldn't be going to bed each day wearing makeup, and if
you're skipping steps because it is too complicated, you won't be getting the

Most people fall into two camps with their eyebrows, those that leave them
alone, and those that have "brows on fleek". You want to fall somewhere in the
middle. A little cleaning up and filling in will all of your makeup look more
professional and pulled together.

for day and night. I never skip the sunscreen and have been using eye cream

My favourite beauty tip would be to use exfoliating products without breaking
the bank. Buy a two-pack of exfoliating gloves from a pound store or a similar
store, and you can use them all over the body. I love using the glove with a
cleanser on my face to clear away dead skin cells and sebum. Still, you can use
them to exfoliate the legs before tanning, the lips (gently) before applying
lipstick, the heels to make them soft and even to get rid of glitter left after
a sparkly bath bomb. They’re so cheap but last for ages and saves you a ton of
money in comparison to using exfoliating brushes that are for just one area.

a thick layer of your night cream while in the bath, so the steam allows the

My top makeup tips is to invest money in good skincare and makeup bases
(foundation/ concealer/ powder). Cut costs on colour products (eyes/ cheeks/
lips), but getting the bottom right is essential - if your makeup base looks
good, anything else you apply after will look so much better.

Also make sure that when you apply your foundation and concealer that you use it
in thin, even layers for the most natural look and don't overdo the powder -
apply where needed on the t-zone and also on the eyelids to prevent eyeshadow
from creasing.

My number one beauty tip is always to wear sunscreen. Lots of women skip SPF
because they assume their skin won't be affected by the sun since they aren't in
direct sunlight at a beach, for instance. But the fact is that even on an
overcast or cloudy day, as well as indoors, the sun still has a significant
effect on the skin, so sunscreen is a must at all times, every single day.

appearance of your skin. It is essential to have a skincare professional

concerns. After all, the skin you have is yours for the rest of your life!

I think my main beauty tip would be to develop a good skincare routine as early

Wear sunscreen — every day. I know you’ll think this is boring, I know you’ll
think you hardly need to bother, especially not at the tail end of winter in the
gloomy old UK, but seriously, protecting your skin from the ultraviolet rays
that it is exposed to in everyday daylight - not just in bright sunshine - is
the best thing you can do for your complexion. Wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen
will dramatically reduce the effect that UVA rays - the ageing ones, the ones
that pass through the glass - have on your skin, so, ten years down the line,
your skin will not have as many lines and wrinkles and pigmentation marks as it
would otherwise have gained. And you’ll have done it a favour by guarding skin’s
DNA against the sort of damage that can eventually lead to skin cancers, too.

1) Invest in supplements. If your skin is drier than it should be, the chances
are you are deficient in one or more of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin
D, Potassium or Essential Fatty Acids, so it may be wise to invest in a decent
multivitamin (I love Terranova Living Multinutrient).

Besides a high-quality multivitamin and mineral, I consider the crucial
supplements for healthy skin to be -

Essential Fatty Acids - help maintain moisture in the skin.

Diatomaceous Earth - this mineral is 89% silica, which is essential for healthy
skin. If we are deficient in silica collagen in our skin breaks down more
quickly, causing dullness and tired-looking skin. Nails will also be stronger
with regular doses of Diatomaceous Earth.

MSM, or Methylsulphonylmethane, keeps hair glossy and skin tone even, smooth and
youthful. Nails will grow quicker, as well as stronger. Sulphur is also
essential for cell regeneration and renewal.


2) Choose what you put on your skin wisely. When it comes to skincare products,
avoid chemically-heavy products. Most mass-market products contain mineral oils,
which leave a film of oil on the skin's surface, which only gives the appearance
of softer, smoother, hydrated skin.

Look for genuine natural products that contain nourishing ingredients that will
feed the skin with essential vitamins and minerals. Products that contain
nutrient-dense oils such as olive and avocado, or butter such as shea and cocoa
will hydrate, nourish and protect the skin and also deliver ingredients
essential for healthy skin to the dermis.

Always look for products that suit your skin type; natural products are targeted
these days. Once you find a regime that suits you stick with it. 

Always use an alcohol-free cleanser to prevent skin from drying out. If your
skin is oily, don't be afraid to use a face oil as certain oils will balance the
fat in the skin. Look for jojoba oil which is very similar in structure to our
skin's sebum and will trick the skin into not overproducing oil.
