PLEXCORP CLEANUP Plex has been systematically introducing a lot of spam services which should be disabled. Here's how: 1. Click on the settings icon (top right) 2. Click on Online Media Sources on the left side 3. Change all options to Disabled and click Save PLEX SETTINGS FOR ALL CLIENTS Apply the following settings on any device you install the Plex app on: 1. Open PLEX APP on your device & go to SETTINGS 2. Click on VIDEO QUALITY and set - Adjust Automatically - OFF - Home streaming - Maximum - Remote Streaming - Maximum 3. For Subtitles, under VIDEO set - Burn subtitles - Only image formats DIRECT PLAY When Plex chooses to direct-play a file, that means the media file is 100% compatible with the client device, and the Plex server needs to do nothing with the media file except send it to the client device. DIRECT STREAM Plex chooses to direct stream a file to a client when the client doesn't natively support the container of the media file, but both the video and audio formats are supported. TRANSCODING If your client does not support either the video or audio stream of the file, Plex will need to convert it to a compatible format. Plex does this by transcoding the file. This process uses a lot of CPU power, which is why 4K is not allowed to transcode. 4K COMPATIBILITY Just because you change your device's settings to be exactly like this guide does not mean that your device will be able to play 4K contents. * 4K will require that you have an internet connection of at least 100-Mbps * Have a compatible client that can support 4K with its settings set to Maximum * Depending on your Wifi setup, 4K can buffer on Wifi, thus causing Plex to transcode 1.
