Published 27 February 2024

> The Hinrich Foundation hosted Andrew Sheng, a former advisor to regulators in
> China, Hong Kong, and other Asian governments, to a roundtable lunch on 21
> February.

Participants, brought together by Dr. Bill Foo, Chair of the Singapore Business
Circle, discussed the latest turns in global finance, including dollar
dominance, the failure of sanctions on Russia, the internationalization of the
Chinese renminbi, and a range of other trade-related developments.

Tan Sri Sheng is an Advisor to the Foundation, a member of International
Advisory Council of the National Financial Regulatory Administration (NFRA),
China and the Council of Advisers for Hong Kong’s government. He authored "From
Asian to Global Financial Crisis: An Asian Regulator’s View of Unfettered
Finance in the 1990s and 2000s" (2009) and writes regularly on international
finance and monetary economics, financial regulation and global governance.

He is also Pro-Chancellor of Bristol University and Distinguished Fellow, Asia
Global Institute, University of Hong Kong, as well as Chairman, George Town
Institute of Open and Advanced Studies, Wawasan Open University, Malaysia.
