There's a difference between posting a job to LinkedIn and being head
hunted by recruiters on LinkedIn First one requires little to no effort.
Second one they're putting more resources behind to actually find someone
external, so that's likely to be a real job

trash is high, try picking fewer and be more targeted, market is not good
but linkedin fast apply is trash even in a booming market

I actually do quite well with linkedin applications. Its very likely you
are applying for stretch roles, dont have applicable experience, or domt
have exact industry exposure. You wont get the job right now if you arent a
95% match right now. Even then it will be competitive.

If you’ve “applied to over 2k jobs” I have to imagine you’re just hitting
apply through the LinkedIn option with a keyword search? No one is going to
look at that. It’s so low effort and you’re clearly not invested in any of
them to take the time. Job market is tricky but not bad. You need to tailor
your applications, resume, and cover letters otherwise you’re just another
number. Who are you connected to? Who can you network with? Who knows
someone who knows someone? Are there networking groups you could attend?
Hopefully, as an ivy undergrad, you’ve done these things and your post was
just a frustrated vent… 😒

month since being laid off and I’m currently in the process with 9
companies (probably around 100 applications). You’re doing something wrong
if you have ZERO interviews with over 2k applications lol

I agree. The market is actually bad. I think if youre in healthcare maybe
not. If you are already industry focused like myself, its brutal. Fintech
and fs is in droubt mode. Banks are super light on hiring and many segments
experiencing pressure from every direction.

From my personal experience, Quality of application matters more than the
volume. it's not a percentage game, it's an ATS or resume fitment game at
stage 1. So you need to see the relevance of the content of your resume to
the job you are applying for less than 60-70% fitment and you are screened
out. I am not saying fake it but please make sure you highlight key words
next time you apply for a job by reading the job description. Every good
job will have hundreds of applications, due to the demand and supply
situation at the moment. Year 2022 was equally bad to now, 2022 was a
period of artificial demand which could not be sustained and people had to
be laid off and now companies are being overcautious to forecast headcount.

from online posts is the lazy approach, and that many job postings are
fake. It’s kind of like dating sites these days. Get out there and form
real connections, and stop relying on Mark Zuckerberg and pals to get you a

Find a few firms you want to work for and do some informational interviews.
Once you build a good rapport with a few people ask for a referral,
submitting could resumes is hard to get your resume seen. Good luck!
