YOUNG BOY’S $2 PAINTING SURPRISED EVERYONE IN THE SHOW

Jacob Published on 02/03/2022 This article appeared in Beachraider and has been
published here with permission.

Special Interview

An enthusiastic young collector had an insight into the painting he had
purchased. He was thinking the piece could sell for an extra amount of cash.
When he brought it for appraisal, however, he did not anticipate the price of
the photo. When he discovered the number of the portrait, the owner was in
shock.

SPECIAL INTERVIEW

On a certain day in 2013, cameras rolled, waiting for something special to
happen. David Weiss, a renowned appraiser, was about to start the most special
interview that he had ever done in his whole career. When it came to arts, there
was no doubt that he was an expert.

A KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON

In the Antiques Roadshow’s American edition, he was the most informed person
about sketches and paintings and had several different encounters with auction
houses. Sitting across from the appraiser was the boy who owned the photo.
Within the film, he was comparatively calm. The expert began his company after a
couple of preparations.

ANTIQUE TRADER

Even at a young age, the boy invited to the Antique Roadshow was an enthusiastic
antique dealer. He did not know, however, how precious the painting that he had
found was. The portrait owner thought that he was bringing a special art into
the exhibition. He did not expect the canvas to obtain a high valuation,
however.

ESSENTIAL PART

The essential part of their job was known by all appraisers, especially in front
of the camera, where they had to learn the story of any item they evaluated. It
should also be evaluated equally and could indicate any distinct feature of the
object.

FOLLOWING THE STANDARD PROCEDURE

Each appraiser from the Antique Roadshow show recognized that they should follow
their occupation’s standard protocol. However, many small appraiser shows had
appeared for several years, and they followed the procedure as well. The tale
they find in the art would make it more enticing for individuals to watch the
show.

TWO-DOLLAR PAINTING

Before the boy could find out how much his $2 painting actually costs, he had to
take a long road trip all the way to Richmond, Virginia, where he would be in
Antiques Roadshow. When it came to antiques, people who were amateur would look
for an outside appraiser before they think of considering the object as
something valuable.

WORTH IT OR NOT?

The most expensive goods would end up in thrift shops or unscrupulous antique
shops, and most of the things were not priced according to their value in those
shops. However, the young boy in the show did the same thing when he made an
appearance on the Antiques Roadshow network.

TRAVELING APPRAISER DOCU-SERIES

The Antique Roadshow program began filming in 1979. The show was created because
the documentary series inspired a traveling appraiser and antique collector who
came to see them. Development became fashionable and inspired many other
branches of different nations, such as the United States.

ANTIQUE ENTHUSIAST

As soon as the young boy participated in the show, he knew that he was lucky to
be a guest in the show to talk about his love and passion for being an
enthusiast when it comes to antiques. This is why it was a good thing that he
took the long road trip all the way there.

EUROPEAN ART AND HISTORY

David Weiss was renowned as an expert thanks to his knowledge and experience
when it comes to 19th and 20th-century European paintings, sculptures, etc.
After all, he does have experience handling items as such for over three
decades.

SKILLED MAN

He was involved in Oriental rugs as well. The appraiser examined the image that
the young boy brought to the exhibition. When it came to antiques and how
valuable the canvas was, there was no doubt that he was an expert.

SVP AT AUCTION HOUSE

David Weiss personally participated in the exhibition, which supported his main
job in Freeman Auction house, like the other appraisers in Antiques Roadshow. He
held the position of Senior Vice President at the auction house. It was the role
that he deserved after all of his career experiences.

A PROFESSOR

When he was employed in Washington, D.C, he also held the same title. When
working in that field, and learned several things. However, the competent
appraiser not only analyzed art but was also a professor at Drexel University,
teaching business-related topics.

MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCE

When he worked at auctions, David Weiss was delighted to find a unique piece. In
his biography on Freeman’s Auction House website, he shared his experience.
Stated the appraiser, “For me, the most rewarding experiences as an auction
house appraiser are the happy, unexpected ‘discoveries’ that originate from
private collectors and estates. The best and most memorable of these ‘finds’
have resulted in massively successful prices realized.” At that point, he would
always have an exciting day in the store.

EVALUATING THE ITEM

Just like what he does to every guest who brings their item to be evaluated by
the best appraiser, David also asked the show’s youngest guest a series of
questions. He started by asking the boy what he knew about the painting that he
brought.

YOUNG MAN’S PASSION

The appraiser began the interview by asking the youngest program guest, “You
must be the youngest collector that I’ve seen.” The boy showed a smile to the
expert and replied, “I think so.” The young man’s poise and language, especially
his passion for collecting antiques, amazed Weiss.

CONVINCING HIS PARENTS

It was the day the young fan heard about the program that was being screened in
Richmond, Virginia and tried to persuade his parents to take him to the show.
The boy figured he’d be able to get a hundred bucks for the painting he had
recently purchased.

ULTIMATELY AGREEING

Finally, after a long drive from their home in South Jersey to Richmond,
Virginia, his parents decided to go to the event. The parents embraced their son
on the day of the show and chose a bright red t-shirt that would be worn in
front of the young guest’s camera.

A THRILLING EXPERIENCE

When he got to the event, the young guest was delighted. His hobby was the
reason why he had a chance to come to the exhibition. When he heard that the boy
had bought numerous antiques, Weiss was amazed, not just the painting.

HIS FAVORITE OBJECTS TO COLLECT

The appraiser also knew that the young man was collecting goods longer than he
planned. He asked about the things and the youngster’s favorite object to
collect in the interview with the young boy, and his answer to the professional
appraiser was, “I like glass, sterling silver, and art.”

PASSION FOR ANTIQUES

Weiss was curious about other objects that had been found by the young guest,
which inspired him to collect antiques. From his enthusiastic response, the
appraiser was persuaded that the boy had a passion for collecting antiques.

HIS MOST LOVED ANTIQUE

The young man was still answering a question from the appraiser, and he seemed
to be knowledgeable about the subject. He also told the specialist that a large
silver serving platter was his most cherished antique, which he had recently
found. The young man’s response made David curious about his love of antiques.

“JUNK AUCTION”

David understood that he wanted to explain how antiques fascinated the young
man. The appraiser was asking the boy, “Where do you find this stuff?” And based
on the boy’s reply, it was in “a junky auction” located in the young man’s
hometown in South Jersey.

DIFFERENT FROM HIM

In their interview, he was amazed by the boy. He believed that the young man
enjoyed keeping any antique he found in his hands. The next thing he got from
the guest, however, was different from what the professional thought.

KEEPING THE ITEMS

Weiss kept learning more about the love of the young boy for antiques, and he
even asked the boy if he had a habit of keeping the items he had discovered at
various auctions. For most older antique collectors, the reply was clear.

ANTIQUE COLLECTORS

Most older antique collectors collect antiques because of their value, not by
keeping them for their own possession. However, some children would retain for
themselves the discovered object because they might think it had a significant
meaning in their lives.

SELLING ONLINE

The experience of the boy was something that David and even the producer were
not expecting. Especially when the young man informed them, “I like to sell them
online,” the appraiser did not believe the boy and asked, “You like to sell
them?” the professional did not expect that the kid would do something a
grown-up would do.

UNFORGETTABLE GUEST

He was shocked that this young man knew how to buy and sell every antique he had
acquired. The boy was thought by David to be his most memorable guest in the
show. Before judging the painting, he realized that he wanted to learn more
about the boy’s love for antiques.

BUSINESS MINDED

The boy who was sitting right in front of him became interested in David. If the
young man would choose to sell his goods or keep them in his hands, he was
determined to learn more about the young person. The appraiser decided to pick
an item from the child’s story and said, “Have you made a lot of money selling
silver, you’d say?” they did not assume what his reply would be, how the
enthusiastic child shared his experience when he sold the silver. The young man
told David that he had been waiting until September to sell the item he had
discovered, which was that the market price would improve.

GATHERING INFORMATION

How the youngster got a painting in his hands was the most exciting aspect. The
appraiser tried to collect more information about the boy’s love for antiquity.
He believed that the youngster got the item in the garage sales, which the boy
thought had some value for the thing.

A PIECE OF PAINTING

The youngest guest on the show, however, insisted that during the summer, he
asked his father to go into the junky auction house in their area. The child
begged to wait until he had the chance to bid for a painting.

ON THE SUNNY SIDE

“This piece was found at an auction down South Jersey. It was so hot there, my
dad didn’t wasn’t to stay to get it, but I wanted to.” the boy said in the
interview. When he purchased the art for his collection, the price of the
painting was just two dollars at the time.

A SIGNIFICANT STORY

The youngster thought that when it was made, it would have a significant story.
The kid found it difficult to know where the portrait came from. This was also
why he decided to attend the Antiques Roadshow, to find out the origin of the
painting that he brought.

IS IT VALUABLE?

For the viewers who watched and even for David, the thing that the boy brought
into the show looked like an ordinary painting. However, the appraiser realized
that every object had a sign that would find out whether it was valuable or not.

MOTHER AND CHILD

The professional took a look at the portrait for the first time, and he knew it
was made of normal earth tones. A mother who sat on a chair where she sought to
reach the child was the concept drawn on the canvass. The kid also sat on the
chair, however, which was placed against her mother. There was a portion of a
crucial clue missed by the director.

TESTING THE BOY

David was still testing the boy. He thought about how well-informed the child
was about art. The appraiser was shocked at the calmness of the boy in their
interview. He considered bringing an object that an ordinary child would never
select.

EXPERT IN ARTS

The young guest told the specialist that after he purchased the painting, he saw
it, and it was made out of watercolor. However, since the portrait was contained
in a bottle, the youngster had a hard time explaining. The art expert agreed to
step in.

SKILL IN APPRAISING

The kid’s thought about the painting was correct. The portrait was made using
watercolor. He already knew a lot of things at a young age and was attentive to
the amount of silver he sold publicly. He was also aware of collecting an
object.

THE ONLY PROBLEM

The only problem was his inexperience with the value, and when the appraiser
decided to test him, it was about to face him. Weiss wanted to see if the young
guest had established his abilities as an appraiser.

IMPROVE THE CHILD’S TALENT

When the boy had met and made a rapid evaluation, a sign on the bottom of the
painting was found. Only a part of the name could be identified, but for Weiss,
the definition of the second half of the signature was understood. It was almost
like, at first glance, he recognized the signature. Instead of telling him the
importance from the outset, he decided to boost the child’s ability for
appraisal. The professional asked the youngest guest to repeat what he had
previously told him.

REAL PASSION

Before they evaluated the child’s drawing, it was closer. David wanted his
portrait to be written about. He would like the boy to describe everything about
the art that he could see and tell the painting’s story. David noticed that the
young guest’s enthusiasm for the arts was genuine, and in his mind, when he grew
up, he had a high chance of becoming an appraiser.

ALBERT NEUHUYS’ PAINTING

The young man had defined every aspect of the signature proficiently. The only
piece he could clarify, however, was the first word. At that point, Weiss
reported the signatory’s surname. The creator’s name was Albert Neuhuys.

19TH CENTURY PAINTER

During the 19th century, Albert was a great painter in the Netherlands. The
appraiser said that a live set was usually produced at home by Albert and the
other painters from that period. The painting that the child bought was an
example, and it showed a scene of a mother and a child. Laren School enrolled
the artist who made the painting. It was a colony of Dutch artists, and he
studied with various painters, including Jozef Israels. Albert was transferred
from the lifestyle of the country into an industrial nation. He began to create
art with excitement when he relocated to another venue.

ERA OF PEACEFUL PAINTING

Albert’s lifetime made a peaceful painting earn a reputation in that era. The
painting was his source of income. The majority of his paintings is a scene of
people’s everyday lives within their homes. The drawing that the kid brought to
the Antiques Roadshow was an example of his work. The lovely illustration of a
mother who was sewing while her baby was watching what she was doing.

DOMESTIC TASKS

He also represented domestic tasks in the life of the country as the farmers did
their work. The most prominent art museums have included most of his artwork.
However, the boy happened to own one of the painter’s creations.

ONE OF THE DUTCH PAINTERS

David was more informed than the boy about the painting. When the youngster was
trying to evaluate it, it was the most important thing. Before he continued his
evaluation, he also addressed the existence of Neuhuys and his development. He
said, “Neuhuys was one of the Dutch painters. He was born in 1844, and he died
in 1914. I think your watercolor was probably done in the last quarter of the
19th century.” Before Weiss’s revelation, the boy wondered precisely how old the
painting was, but it seemed clear to the expert that the boy was absorbing every
word.

THE GUESSING GAME

The experts at Antiques on the Antiques Roadshow program let their guests try to
estimate their items’ value. However, they would not be surprised if their guess
was higher than the actual value of the object. This was the explanation why
they passed through different countries. That didn’t mean they weren’t going to
go into the shop. However, the expert shared the painting’s context, and this
time he would try to make the boy guess how important it was. It was the
technique he used to teach the youngster the sense of the antique.

WHAT’S THE REAL WORTH?

David asked the child, “How much do you think is worth?” It was the moment when
the appraiser was going to evaluate his item. He put the young guest through
every trial to find out how informed the boy was about antiquities. After a long
hour of waiting to get the painting and travel from New Jersey to Virginia
during the hot summer season, when he estimated the piece’s total amount, the
young man deserved it. His greatest guess was “Hundred and fifty bucks.”

A HUNDRED AND FIFTY SHORT

David repeated the boy’s guess, “Hundred fifty bucks?” However, he suddenly
added, “I think it’s worth a hundred and fifty. I think it’s worth more than one
hundred and fifty.” It did not alter the enthusiasm on the boy’s face. He let
the appraiser evaluate his offering. When he changed his words with restrained
breathing, the expert made everyone feel excited. He said that later on, “Today,
if your Alber Neuhuys watercolor came to an auction. It would probably sell for
about $1000 to $1500.” The young guest could not contain his shock when the
professional antiques said the word “thousand.”

THAT’S A LOT OF MONEY

The only word that the boy could say was “Woah,” which was his reaction to his
painting’s total value. When he said the price of his discovery, Weiss blew his
mind. The appraiser felt that the young person had a natural talent for the art
of trading. Before he became a better appraiser, though, he needed to learn and
understand many things. He told the painting’s creator, “That’s a lot of money!”
From a 2 dollars painting into a thousand dollars of cash. However, David added
a little lesson for the youngest guest in the show. Wait until you see this next
guest who got the shock of her life after arriving at the Antiques Roadshow…

She had already been so emotional and try her best to keep calm. But it wasn’t
easy, this woman recently learned that this special gift that she received from
her grandmother was something important. The gift that Rose received from her
grandmother was a painting, which ultimately led her to appear on the renowned
show, Antiques Roadshow. After receiving the news from expert appraiser,
Meredith Hilferty, she was in total shock. The truth had set off the tears, Rose
felt as if she was on an emotional rollercoaster. Meredith Hilferty gave her a
few moments to cool off before giving her more details. Regardless, Rose would
never forget this life-changing day. But what exactly did she find out?

ANTIQUES ROADSHOW IS A FAMOUS SHOW

Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center hosted Antiques Roadshow. The
popular reality TV show started back in 1979 and has aired 43 seasons to date.
Originally, it began in Britain, but over the years it has seen many
international versions. Each and every one specializing in antiques and fine
arts. Thousands of hopeful people bring in the weirdest and wonderful objects
just to see what they value is. Just like everyone else, Rose arrived and waited
for her turn with the appraiser.

IT HAD A LOT OF SENTIMENTAL VALUE

Rose had obviously brought the painting with her, it had been in her family for
hundreds of years. Whether it was valuable or not, she was not sure. But what
she did know is that it had deep sentimental value. Despite this, for some time,
she had been curious to see if it had any monetary value. But perhaps it was
nothing more than a stunning painting that had been passed on from one
generation to the next. Today was the day she was about to find out…

RIGHT ABOVE THE BED OF HER GRANDMOTHER

For as long as Rose could remember the painting had hung right above her
grandmother’s bed frame. From when she was a young girl, Rose felt she had some
connection to the painting…it was as though it had a calming effect on her. This
was one of the many reasons why Rose had the desire to keep it. The truth was
that no one in her family knew if it was a print or an original painting. So in
turn, they had no idea if it was even worth anything.

FROM ONE GENERATION TO ANOTHER

Just after her grandmother passed away, Rose requested that she get the
painting. It was a great honor to be able to be in possession of something like
that, especially as it was so cherished by her grandma. Every time Rose looked
at the painting, she felt that even closer to her grandmother even though she
had passed on. On one particular day, Rose had been admiring the painting when
she suddenly realized that there was indeed something hidden in it. What could
it possibly be?

IT HAD A SMALL BLEMISH

At this very moment, Rose noticed a tiny blemish that slightly spoiled the
painting. She immediately rushed outside so she could get a better look in the
direct sunlight. Instantly, she saw it! Somehow, a black insect got wedged right
between the glass plate and the canvas. Rose decided that she would carefully
open the back of the frame and remove the glass. However, this now meant the
cherished painting was now exposed to both air and sunlight…what now?

WHAT SHE SAW INSIDE OF IT

As Rose began to inspect the painting, she quickly realized that it was a
mosquito. She carefully tried to grip it between her forefinger and thumb, but
what she didn’t see is that lightly grazed the painting with her knuckle. All of
a sudden, her heart began to pound heavily. She swiftly yet cautiously put the
glass back on top of the painting.  She later said, “I took it out to the front
yard and I opened it up to get the mosquito out so I could take it with me to
college, and then it kind of scared me a little. I closed it back up immediately
because it looked like it might be real.”

WONDERING ABOUT THE TRUTH BEHIND IT

We all know that mosquitos can truthfully be one of the most annoying creatures
in the world. Let’s face it, no one enjoys having that super bothersome whining
sound of a mosquito in our ears, especially late at night when trying to get
some sleep. However, this particular mosquito was exactly what Rose needed to
help her get to the Antiques Roadshow.

SHE WANTED TO GET IT APPRAISED

Like so many others that arrived on that day, Rose had to wait quite a long time
before anyone spoke to her. Finally, after a few hours, it was her time to speak
to the appraiser about the painting that she had with her. Rose sat down after
she placed the painting on the table next to her. Holding her breath, she
eagerly waited for some feedback. She had butterflies in her stomach, and they
started fluttering even more as soon as the appraiser sat down opposite her.
What did Meredith Hilferty have to say about this painting?

WHAT SHE KNEW ABOUT IT

Hilferty began asking Rose a few important questions about the painting. Unlike
most of the people who attended the show, Rose knew who the artist was. She was
actually able to share quite a bit of information, mostly from what her family
had told her. She explained, “I know he was born in France and then he moved to
northern Pennsylvania.”

THE ARTIST IS HENRY FRANCOIS FARNY

Henry Francois Farny was an artist who had some incredible stories about the
Native Americans. This is how the story goes, Farny found out most of the
information that he knew about the Seneca tribe when he was just a child. A lot
of the time, they would hunt in the area close to his home, where he lived with
his family and grew up. However, the big question was, was the painting
authentic? And if so, how on earth did her grandmother get it in the first
place?

THERE WERE A TON OF SPECULATION

“So he could have been in the area at the time when he was painting it when it
was given to my grandmother. And then he moved out to Ohio. But he had
associations with the Sioux tribe and they actually adopted him in and they gave
him a cipher, ‘LongBoots,’” she clarified. Rose continued to say, “And that’s
what that little circle under his signature is.”

AN IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR HER

Hilferty nodded and informed Rose that she was correct about the history of the
artist. In addition to that, the appraiser said that there could be a chance
that the painting was genuine considering where her grandmother lived at the
time that she acquired it. However, Hilferty asked needed to ask Rose one last
thing…“Have you had it appraised before? Do you know if she had it appraised?”
Rose contemplated her answer and her reply turned out to be rather disputable…

IT HAD BEEN EVALUATED BEFORE

“It was appraised as part of a general house appraisal twice. In 1998 it was
appraised as a print at $200 and in 2004 at $250,” she explained. The viewers
could instantly see the skepticism in Hilferty’s eyes,  even though it was only
present for a split second. Then she smiled and changed her tone of voice. Was
she trying to hide what she already knew about the painting?

SHE KNEW SOMETHING ABOUT IT

Hilferty gazed at the painting and then returned her eyes to Rose. She tried to
hold back a smile. Finally, she was ready to tell Rose the exciting news about
this exquisite family heirloom. But no one was expecting that the information
that Hilferty was about to share to be so shocking! When Rose heard what
Hilferty had to say, her face went bright red. She was completely startled, and
she became emotional once again. In fact, tears even rolled down her face.

THE TRUE VALUE OF THIS PAINTING

The appraiser looked at Rose and, in a calm voice, said, “So, if we were going
to put this in an auction today, I would suggest an estimate of $200,000 –
$300,000.” Rose definitely could not believe what she was hearing, it was hard
for her to digest all this new information. She was this as she was too
overwhelmed to say anything. After taking a few moments to calm down, this is
what Rose had to say…

HER FACE SHOWED HOW SHE FELT

As the cameras zoomed into the guest, Meredith Hilferty remained quiet. Rose had
so many different emotions running through her mind. But finally, she let out a
giggle as tears started to flow out of her eyes. Before Rose could ask all the
necessary questions, she began to uncontrollably sob. It was very clear that she
had a deep connection to the painting.

HOW SHE REACTED TO THE NEWS

Rose was completely startled and was choking up with emotion. She gasped and
then said, “So I can’t hang it then?” It seemed as though the truth about the
painting had dawned on her. Her instincts told her that it was probably not the
best idea to use the painting to decorate the house. Hilferty was astounded
after she heard what Rose had to say, but Meredith had a lot more to share with
Rose.

A PAINTING OF A SIOUX TRIBE

The painting that Rose had brought in with her had some remarkable detailing. It
portrayed a group of Sioux people on walking down a mountain with horses.
Apparently, the painting was done at the height of the artist’s career. “1890 is
when we start to see some of his very best paintings. He represented the Native
Americans in a very peaceful, tranquil way,” explained Hilferty.

A DIFFERENT WAY TO LOOK AT IT

“You can see that in this painting, he didn’t really ever bring conflict into
his work as some of the other artists of that time did,” she continued to say.
It seemed as though Rose was listening very carefully to every word. “He really
just wanted to show the Native Americans in their natural environment – without
too many other things happening besides the landscape around them.”

SITTING ON A FORTUNE THE WHOLE TIME

“Her dad, I’m guessing, would’ve given it to her after she spent the summer at a
dude ranch when she was 19, in… like… the ’40s,” Rose explained, still in tears.
The viewers were caught up in all the emotions and truly felt how sentimental
this painting was to Rose. But what most people couldn’t believe was this
particualr painting was in fact worth a fortune!

SHE NOW HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS DILEMMA

“What a horrible dilemma. Something so cherished, so beautiful, and important to
the memory of your family. A historical relic from an American master. But on
the other hand, a MASSIVE pile of cash could change your world. A new home, or
college or relief from grinding debt,” a female commenter chimed in. “Such a
heavy choice and no wrong answer, but really no right one either.”

HER REACTION BECAME AN INTERNET SENSATION

People from all over the world, tuned in to watch this specific episode of
Antiques Roadshow. Both the viewers and Rose learned about all this information
on the day, the most important part was the real worth of the painting. Most
people were intrigued and a little envious of this lucky inheritor. “It was
interesting that her first reaction was an expression of loss despite the value
she learned the painting has. She continued to say, “So, I can’t put it up?”

WHAT THE COMMENTERS HAD TO SAY

This commenter did not stop there. “Meaning, the painting reminds her of her
grandmother, and because of the high value of the object, she can’t risk it
being stolen. She must place it where it will be safe from thieves but away from
her eyes. She can’t see it every day and think of her dear grandma. Very sweet
reaction,” they explained further. However, not everyone shared the joy and
wasn’t so happy about the situation.

SOME OF THEM WERE DISAPPOINTED

Surprisingly, a number of viewers expressed anger and distress that the first
two appraisals of the painting had been so wrong. “What kind of appraiser just
assumes it’s a print?” a commenter questioned There were others who pondered if
it had truly been an honest mistake or a scam. Others thought that maybe it went
through an evaluation at the hands of a general appraiser while conducting a
valuation of the house. In any event, we may never know the truth. Rose only had
one thing on her mind after she found out what the value of the painting was…

THE DAMAGE WAS NOT INTENTIONAL

“Should I have left the mosquito in the back?” she questioned. Rose must have
felt nervous after she revealed that she exposed the artwork to light and air.
Hilferty consoled her by saying, “It’s actually not a bad idea that you took the
bug out.” The master appraiser went on to explain why this is the case.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF THINGS

“Ultimately, we would like for a conservator to do that but the bug could have
continued to cause a stain, but no. It’s good that the bug wasn’t there
anymore,” she stated. The relied that Rose showed was very obvious, her gut
feeling was right. And she knew she should’ve trusted herself from the
beginning.

IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE RIGHT CALL

In the long run, it turned out for the better…it was a great idea to take the
mosquito off the painting. Hilferty clarified that the mosquito could have left
a stain that would require the services of a conservator. But regardless of
this, we can’t withhold the fact that the removal of the insect led to a
two-fold effect. Although Rose saved the painting from severe damage, there was
one more key role that this annoying mosquito played in the story….

NOTHING MORE THAN PURE LUCK

The small and trivial mosquito had a big role in this story. At the end of the
day, this is was what made Rose think that there was more to the painting than
meets the eye. If it had not been for the irritating insect, she might never
have known better. She wouldn’t have taken a closer look at the painting or even
think about bringing it to the Antiques Roadshow for another review. Commenters
immediately indicated that it was time for Rose to make a decision about the
painting.

IT WAS A DAUNTING DECISION TO MAKE

It seems like a tough decision…what would you do if you were in Rose’s shoes?
Would you keep the sentimental heirloom? Or would you be more interested in
giving it up to take home a large sum of money? For a very long time, Rose had
no idea that she was sitting on such a huge fortune. This is probably why her
reaction to the whole situation was so priceless. Nevertheless, there are people
who are aware of the value of their artworks and try to keep them a secret from
the rest of the world.
