Unlike a tool like Dropbox, Portal doesn’t need to upload your files to a
third-party server, so the transfers are quick and direct. While Pushbullet
itself is technically capable of transferring small files, the company itself
admits this isn’t very reliable. Portal requires that both devices in the
exchange be on the same Wi-Fi network, but the trade off is that Pushbullet
claims you can send files over 1GB in size reliably.

Looks easier than the FTP feature that ES File Explorer has, although it’s
not as powerful. The only question I have is why would somebody want to
transfer photos to their phone and not vice versa?

Well, it’s certainly not impossible, but I think in most cases you’re
probably not downloading large files to your phone first with the
intention of transferring them to your desktop later. Small files would
already work pretty well in the regular Pushbullet app for things like
photos, but what are the chances you’re downloading huge, hundred-megabyte
videos to your phone that you actually need on your desktop? I’m sure
there are cases where this happens, but for most people I think Pushbullet
will already do what they need.
