Over the years, during routine eye exams we have correctly diagnosed previously unsuspected general health problems including high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, sarcoidosis, thyroid, carotic artery, and cardiac valve disease, eye cancer and brain tumor. DR. NORBERT SCHACHTER, M.D. Dr. Schachter, a board certified ophthalmologist, has served three terms as director of ophthalmology at Mountainside Hospital. He trained residents at St. Vincent's Hospital in the city. Dr. Schachter brought ophthalmic laser surgery to Montclair. He is available to assess emergent problems every day via Facetime. Routine problems or chronic issues require an in-office evaluation, which can be performed all weekdays. Dr. Schachter commanded medical facilities in Germany, and was the Third Armored Division Artillery Surgeon. He offers a FREE eye exam to veterans of the US military or IDF.
