FANS CONGRATULATE LEANNE MANAS ON 15-YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT SABC

Thursday, 1 August marks the 15-year anniversary of Leanne Manas’ career at
SABC. She has officially become one of South Africa’s longest-serving news
anchors.

For those living under a rock: Who is Leanne Manas?

There aren’t many people alive who can proudly say that they are doing what they
were born to do. Manas is an exception. The 44-year-old has dedicated a good
portion of her life to TV presenting.

As a qualified Speech and Drama teacher with Honours in English, Manas kicked
off her media career as a news anchor at Radio 702.

After a short stint at the commercial station, the 44-year-old moved on to
Johnnic Publishing’s African Business Channel where she became the news anchor
for Classic FM.

A keen interest in Finance journalism is what drove her to complete a
postgraduate certificate in Economics Journalism from
Rhodes University.

With this in hand, she landed her first television gig as the anchor for South
Africa’s essential Business Channel – Summit Television, in 2001. This would be
followed by short stints at hosting SABC 3 programmes such as Business Update
and Business Focus.

Her broadcasting journey finally took her to SABC 2’s Morning Live, South
Africa’s longest-running breakfast news programme, in 2004, where she has been
for the past 15 years.

Fans and colleagues celebrate Manas’ achievements on social media

On her 15th anniversary at SABC, scores of fans took to social media to show
appreciation to the dedication, consistency and impartiality Manas has shown
over the years.

Many of her loyal followers and colleagues took to social media to share
memories that they still hold dear and wished her a lot more success in her
future endeavours.
