We commend this action as a step in the right direction, however, do not wish for our community to forget there is plenty of work to be done in addressing the issue of food security for Canadians. We are disappointed it only appears in No Frills stores, but hope this can expand to other stores in future, and serve as a best practice for other grocers in the industry. I just wanted to remind people to ask for rain checks when a sale item they want is sold out. Afaik most stores will honour this. I’ve been wanting to buy some cherry tomatoes that were are on sale at Food Basics (I do the bulk of my shopping there) but they’ve consistently been empty on the shelf for 3 days now. Asked the cashier for a rain check-initially she said no, but then decided to check the rain check book and they were in fact a listed item. On top of that, because it was a rain check I get an additional 10% off the sale price when I do pick them up next.
