STRING ART

By The Ridge Magazine07/02/20232 Mins Read

Gina Naik is a self-taught artist specialising in creating unique and
hand-crafted string art pieces. Her small business – called Artwork by Gina Naik
– is based in Verulam.

“It all started on Valentine’s Day 2020,” says Gina, when she made a special
piece of string art for her boyfriend. The joy she felt in creating something
with her hands sparked a passion that has turned her hobby into a small
business. When the pandemic hit, she was inspired and encouraged by her
significant other to begin creating customised pieces for clients – and went
public in November 2020.

“I’m an average corporate person with loads of creative ideas; I have a strong
and deep affection to caffeine, fictional everything and sunflower fields; and
even though I’ve always leant towards creatively, I never thought I’d reach the
point where people pay for my artworks – it’s an amazing feeling.”

Gina’s business has made substantial progress, with her attending various social
events, networking with other talented individuals, gaining a following on
social media platforms, and even attending one of pop culture’s biggest events –
Comic Con Africa.

String art is a visually stunning art form creating pieces that are textured and
dynamic. Every piece is handcrafted with the highest quality materials sourced
locally, and clients can choose to add personal messages to match their loved
one’s taste and style.

What better way to show your love than with a personal hand-made gift? String
art is a meaningful way to express your feelings and make your loved one feel
special. Whether you’re looking for a romantic piece for your home or a
thoughtful gift for a loved one, we’ve got you covered!

“My goal is to gain enough momentum to turn my passion project into a full-time
business and collaborate with other artists and businesses to craft something
remarkable.

on new designs, promotions, and upcoming events.
