About ACTEC The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) is a nonprofit association of lawyers established in 1949. Its members are elected to the College by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors. WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) represents the most significant reformation of the Bank Secrecy Act and related anti-money laundering rules since the US PATRIOT Act. Although the CTA is mainly focused on requiring corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships, trusts may also find themselves with having to comply with disclosures related to beneficial ownership. With the final regulations under the CTA going into effect on January 1, 2024, now is the time for wealth planning and tax practitioners to better understand these compliance obligations. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN The CTA reporting requirements cast a broad net, can be onerous, and are riddled with exceptions. This panel, all Fellows of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and highly-experienced estate and tax planning practitioners, will: - cover the history behind the enactment of the CTA - address key provisions under the CTA and recently issued final regulations - explore practical considerations on how practitioners can comply with this new reporting system - discuss possible drafting considerations for operating agreements - examine the asset protection features, including privacy considerations - consider what likely issues estate planners might see in their practice and how to best handle it All registrants will receive a set of downloadable course materials to accompany the program. WHO SHOULD ATTEND Estate planners and tax professionals will benefit from this CLE from ACTEC and ALI CLE on how to comply with the new CTA requirements in estate planning. Kudos to the presenters for pulling together this information and identifying principal things we need to know. Well done. Clear and concise. It was a great CLE -- but the information provided is scary! Timely and thorough. One of the best CLEs I've ever attended. Great presentation and the materials are informative. At least I have something that I can refer to because my clients are already asking for information. Appreciate the excellent work of the speakers in gathering the information, providing useful materials, and in updating us on this difficult subject. Outstanding presentation on a timely and important topic. Very helpfully summarized information and practical advice on a frightening topic. Great presentation that was delivered in a clear and concise manner. This was one of the best courses I have attended. Thanks to the faculty for sharing their knowledge. I appreciate the efforts of the presenters to think through and present their views on our compliance issues. previous next 1. slide 1 of 12, currently active 2. slide 2 of 12 3. slide 3 of 12 4. slide 4 of 12 5. slide 5 of 12 6. slide 6 of 12 7. slide 7 of 12 8. slide 8 of 12 9. slide 9 of 12 10. slide 10 of 12 11. slide 11 of 12 12. slide 12 of 12 * Schedule * Faculty * Format/Venue * CLE/CPE Credit * Sponsors Schedule * All times Eastern 12:00 p.m. Asset Protection Under the Corporate Transparency Act: What Estate Planners Need to Know 1:30 p.m. Adjournment * Total 60-minute hours of instruction: 1.5 Total 50-minute hours: 1.8 * Suggested Prerequisite: * Educational Objective: * Level of Instruction: Advanced * Time Zone: Eastern 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm Central 11:00 am – 12:30 pm Mountain 10:00 am – 11:30 am Pacific 9:00 am – 10:30 am Alaska 8:00 am – 9:30 am Hawaii 7:00 am – 8:30 am * Program: Faculty PLANNING CHAIRS PROGRAM FACULTY Gary L.
