JOB DESCRIPTION:

Financial Project Controller

our business stakeholders to achieve Bendix’s growth objectives.  We have an
exciting opportunity within our Finance team that will contribute to our growth
and transformational activities.  We’re creating a functional controlling team
to strengthen processes, systems and analytics between Finance, Central
Functions, and Plant activities.  If you’re energetic, and enjoy driving

Position Summary

This position is responsible to serve as a key member of the North America
Functional Controlling team. This highly visible position will lead the
company’s R&D Controlling activities including Project and Business Case
management, ensuring the R&D project management and business case activities are
complete and accurately reflect the economics of the underlying business
opportunities and comply with IFRS reporting requirements. Serving as the
organization’s subject matter expert, this individual will partner with the
business unit/product line leadership teams, to garner R&D project reporting and
business case activities while providing training or guidance as required.  

 

Essential Functions: 

 * Responsible to coordinate R&D Controlling activities including R&D project
   oversight and Business Case standardization, supporting analytics, and
   auditing for completeness, compliance, and reasonability aligned to the
   overall business strategy are taking place within business units and product
   groups
 * Governs the organizations R&D Projects and business case activities within
   business units and product groups reporting, systems and/or presentations to
   the Bendix Board on a regular basis.
 * Coordinates with business leaders on financial integrity, assumptions,
   resources, costs, as well as validating financial metrics (NPV, IRR, payback)
   and resource requirements for accuracy. 
 * Represents Bendix to retain alignment and or concerns within global R&D
   Controlling community
 * Supports Global CoC Controllers regarding business case status
 * Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems and
   user needs to ensure the financial systems are meeting the objectives of
   business strategies and reporting requirements to be effective for R&D
   Planning, Controlling requirements.
 * Audits R&D project and business case activities and govern the business units
   spending requests to actual project spending to date.
 * Ensures the correctness, consistency, and data integrity for assigned
   projects, programs, and portfolios.
 * Partners with the business units to facilitate the annual budget and monthly
   outlook processes for assigned projects and ensure all appropriate policies
   and requirements are met by all interested parties.
 * Liaises between project teams and cost accounting to ensure accurate and
   timely costs for products included in projects.
 * Leads and manages the R&D Accountant to ensure correct IFRS 15 and IAS 38
   –calculation for Quarterly and Annual financial reporting requirements, as
   well as adhering to IFRS requirements and R&D tax credits by partnering with
   business unit and project management.
 * Publishes key portfolio financial metrics to management and key financial
   metrics to project teams for review and reconciliation to plans
 * Prepares various portfolio presentations for project teams and management
   reviews
 * Assists in identifying, evaluating, and implementing process improvements.
 * Strengthens process for IFRS requirements by fostering compliance by business
   units and product groups

 

Knowledge:

 * Expert in building and reviewing business cases, strategic planning, and
   financial analytics.
 * Expert knowledge of financial statements, variance analysis and
   presentation. 
 * Excellent working knowledge in cost accounting systems and
   techniques.          
 * Extensive knowledge of discounted cash flow valuation of investment projects,
   capital projects and sourcing.                               
 * Knowledge of data warehouses, data extract tools, report writing applications
   and other accounting-related software applications.
 * Knowledge of Agile Project Framework and methodology.
 * Knowledgeable in SAP FI/CO, SAP PLM, and Project Management tools.
 * Knowledge in change management methodology

 

Experience:

 * 10+ years of experience in public accounting or manufacturing environment. 
 * Experience in working in a matrix business environment with central and
   business-focused support teams.

 

Skills:

 * Possesses strong analytical skills, problem solving, continuous improvement, 
   and entrepreneurial mindset.
 * Excellent project/process management skills including planning and
   organizational skills.
 * Strong skills in Microsoft Office – expertise in Excel and strong in
   PowerPoint.
 * Ability to manage multiple deadlines and requirements by being adaptable and
   flexible.
 * Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
 * Must be able to deliver detailed material in a concise, professional
   presentation style to all levels of management.        
 * A self-starter who is action and customer-oriented and has a strong sense of
   urgency.
 * Possesses exceptional planning and organizational skills.

 

Education:

 * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field
   required.                                                                                          
 * MBA/CPA Preferred.
 * Green Belt or Black Belt certification a plus.
