WELCOME TO ZKIGNITE COHORT 3!


WHAT IS ZKIGNITE?

zkIgnite is a cohort-based, community-governed innovation fund for experienced
ZK builders and entrepreneurs in the Mina ecosystem.

 

The program is designed to support developers with key resources and grants to
turn their ideas and passion projects into full-fledged businesses. The
allocation of funding is determined by a team of electors from the Mina
community.

 

To date, zkIgnite has funded 50 ZK applications and developer tooling projects
pushing the boundaries of what is possible on Mina Protocol through Cohort 1 and
Cohort 2. Cohort 3 is accepting proposals until January 31, 2024.

ZKIGNITE OVERVIEW

Program Overview zkIgnite, Cohort 3 is a builder’s program designed to help
developers and entrepreneurs turn their commercial innovative ideas into
zero-knowledge applications and bring the next million users onto Mina Protocol.
Grant funding There will be 1,200,000 MINA in eligible for zkApp Product Track
and 300,000 MINA in eligible for Developer Tooling & Infra Track. zkApp
Product Track: Funding commercially-oriented zkApps that bring users and
transactions onto Mina Protocol. Developer Tooling & Infra Track: Funding
‘start-ups for start-ups’; developer tooling, services & infra that push
Mina Protocol & o1js forward Funding will be decided and allocated by a team
of community ‘electors’, composed of zkApp developers, zkApp end users, and Mina
community members. What to expect during zkIgnite Cohort 3 Phase 1 (Month 1) is
the ‘Propose’ phase where developers generate ideas, form teams, and receive
feedback from other participants in order to generate high quality proposals.
Phase 2 (Month 2) is the ‘Funding’ phase where a team of electors formally
reviews proposals, gives feedback, and decides on which proposals to fund. Phase
3 (Months 3 - 6) is the ‘Build’ phase where teams receive funding,and are given
an opportunity to connect with industry experts and VCs, and ultimately start
building. During the ‘Build’ phase, successful proposals will be funded in MINA
upon passing KYC. Those projects will be eligible for their Midpoint and
Completion MINA Token Grants upon hitting their proposed milestones. Funded
teams will be paid in three stages. 33% upfront 33% upon successful delivery of
midpoint milestones 33% upon successful delivery of final milestones The
zkIgnite Technical Committee of experts will determine if the project has hit
their milestones via a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ majority vote. If ‘Yes,’ the project will
receive their midpoint and milestone based MINA token grants. How to participate
Anyone can make an account on the zkIgnite Innovation Platform to join the
program. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join the weekly gatherings, as
well as comment and give feedback on proposals. Outside of joining the
gatherings and giving feedback, there are 3 formal roles that are supported by
grants: Builders: Participants who form teams and submit proposals for zkApp or
Dev Tooling & Infra tracks. The budget for zkApp Product Track is 1,200,000
MINA The budget for Developer Tooling & Infra Track is 300,000 MINA
Electors: Experienced builders, community members and zkApp users who decide on
and allocate the available funding. The Mina Foundation team will reach out to
eligible electors before the program kickoff with more info on how to get
started. Selected electors will be eligible for a grant of 5,000 MINA. zkIgnite
Technical Committee Members: Experts who have in-depth knowledge of core
protocol, o1js and zkApps. Mina Foundation will welcome applications via form
and then decide who will be in the zkIgnite Technical Committee Selected members
of the Technical Committee will be eligible for a grant of 15,000 MINA. Get

weekly updates, meet other builders, ask program questions, and get technical
support while building.
