information has been found on the dark web.This can be alarming, but there’s no
need to panic.We have put together a checklist of recommended actions to help
you tokeep your accounts secure.





IMMEDIATE STEPS

First things first, we need to limit the damage of the breached account data.


CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS

Change your password for the accounts listed on your Dark Web Monitor dashboard
to something long and strong. Consider the NCSC guidance for generating better
passwords.

Not sure if it is the right account? Change the password anyway. If you are
using the same password for any other accounts, change those too.

Password management tools, such as Delinea Secret Server, are a great way to
keep track of your passwords and makes it easy to use unique passwords for each
of your accounts.


CHECK YOUR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTS FOR ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

If you spot anything, notify your bank immediately.

If you think your online banking accounts could been compromised, or you have
payment information stored on the site that has been breached, then it may be
worth informing your bank even if you haven’t noticed any transactions.


NOTIFY YOUR ORGANISATION

Notify your organisation and customers to be extra vigilant for fraudulent
calls, phishing emails, or other communication purporting to be from your
organisation.


INVESTIGATIVE STEPS

Now that you have limited the risk of further damage, you can investigate the
source of the breach and understand its extent.


ASK YOURSELF:

Does the leak include any personal data?

Has any customer data been included in this breach?

Do you need to notify the ICO?

Do you need to notify your customers?

Would it be appropriate to issue a press release?
