Matthew 25:35 DONATE NOW GET INVOLVED IN OUR FOODBANK ABOUT MORE ABOUT US OUR FOODBANK We provide a range of grocery and store cupboard items with household cleaning and personal hygiene products available on request to the most vulnerable in society. ABOUT US For over 5 years, SGFB based in Wyndford area of Maryhill has been serving people within the G20, G21 and G22 postcodes of Glasgow. GET INVOLVED Whether you contribute your time or financially you make a real difference. WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT FOOD BANK: * NO REFERRALS ARE REQUIRED * STAFFED ENTIRELY BY VOLUNTEERS * BENEFITS HUGELY FROM THE GENEROSITY OF THE PARISH PRIEST AND CONGREGATION OF ST GREGORY’S: NO OVERHEAD COSTS, NO HEATING, LIGHTING OR RENT THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS IS DISPROPORTIONATELY HITTING THE MOST VULNERABLE IN SOCIETY Our food bank is located in the Wyndford area The Wyndford area in Glasgow was built in the late 60s on the site of the old Maryhill barracks, and is a proud working class area housing long term tenants, asylum seekers, refugees and a number of people who suffer addictions of different forms. As is the case with many high rise developments it is among the 5% most deprived areas in Scotland. Many of the Wyndford residents have young families and almost all are struggling to feed them. The make up of those attending our food bank: Approximately 30% who have no recourse to public funds largely made up of asylum seekers and their families and increasingly sanctioned individuals. Around 30% who are unable to make ends meet even though they are employed. The remainder are single people of all ages and circumstances. THERE ARE MANY MULTI STOREY BLOCKS HOUSING ASYLUM SEEKERS, REFUGEES, DRUG USERS AND THOSE SUFFERING FROM ALCHOLISM WEEKLY STATISTICS W/C 21/11/22 179 BAGS OF FOOD DISTRIBUTED 405 PEOPLE HELPED £1611 TOTAL COST OUR SERVICES OUR FOOD BANK IS OPEN FROM 10AM TO 12 NOON MONDAY TO FRIDAY All those who are in need are welcome with no requirement for a formal referral. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EACH PERSON OR FAMILY IN NEED WILL RECEIVE A BAG OF FOOD STAPLES ONCE A WEEK The value of each bag that SGFB distributes is around £9. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OTHER ITEMS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE ON REQUEST A number of household cleaning and personal hygiene product are available. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GET INVOLVED HOW YOU CAN HELP MAKE A FINANCIAL DONATION Your financial donation allows us to buy the key essentials that make up each of our bags. Shop for us. 2. Stock up, stack and rotate goods. 3. Prepare items to dispense from within bulk packaging. 4. Dispense at the door. 5. Drive for us to uplift donations. 6. Maintain paperwork, the environment of the food bank, safe and environmentally appropriate disposal of items.
