REGISTERED & BOARD-CERTIFIED ART THERAPIST PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING

Specializing in treating anxiety in children, adolescents & adults

THE PRACTICE OF ART THERAPY COMBINES THE KNOWLEDGE OF VISUAL ARTS, THE CREATIVE
PROCESS, THEORIES AND TECHNIQUES OF HUMAN DEVELOPMENT, PSYCHOLOGY, AND
COUNSELING.

WHO

can benefit from Art Therapy?

Art Therapy can effectively treat clients experiencing developmental, medical,
educational, psychological or social impairment. Art Therapy can also benefit
persons with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD/ADD), and
adverse physical health conditions such as cancer, traumatic brain injury and
other health disabilities.

CREATE

No artistic skills are necessary since creating imagery is a language inherent
to all individuals.

COMMUNICATE

Everyone has the ability to express emotions, feelings and thoughts using their
inner language of imagery.

IMPROVE

The art therapist guides the client to constructively analyze their resulting
artwork in order to gain insight and awareness, improve functioning, and restore
a sense of personal well-being.

 * WHAT IS ART THERAPY?

   “Art therapy is based on the belief that the creative process involved in the
   making of art is healing and life-enhancing. Through creating art and talking
   about art and the process of art making with an art therapist, one can
   increase awareness of self-cope with symptoms, stress, and traumatic
   experiences, enhance cognitive abilities and enjoy the life-affirming
   pleasures of artistic creativity.” – The American Art Therapy Association.

 * WHY IS IT DIFFERENT?

   Art Therapy is a mental health profession in which clients, facilitated by
   professionally trained art therapists, use art materials and the creative
   process to develop symbols and metaphors in their resulting art work which
   produces the vehicle for the expression and communication of inner thoughts
   and feelings. The art therapist guides the client in constructively analyzing
   their resulting artwork in order to gain insight and awareness, improve
   functioning and restore a sense of personal well-being.
