FEATURED ARTICLE AND EDITORIAL: INCORPORATING LETTUCE OR WATERCRESS INTO YOUR
DIET

We are proud to publish a new article by Javad Nasrollahzadeh and co-authors,
and an associated editorial by Gregory C. Henderson. Postprandial responses to
food mostly depend on the composition of the meal and the consumption of
vegetables may modulate this postprandial state. In this study, the effects of
lettuce or watercress consumption with a moderately high-fat meal (40% kcal from
fat) on postprandial lipemia, glycemia, and inflammatory cytokines were
determined in healthy men.

FEATURED SERIES: LIPIDS AND SLEEP

Lipids in Health and Disease is calling for submissions to our new Collection on
"Lipids and Sleep". This Collection is focusing on the link between sleep and
lipid metabolism. We invite original research, topical and systematic review
articles and meta-analyses. For more information on the scope please click here.

DISEASES

Lipids in Health and Disease is calling for submissions to our new Collection on
"Nanomaterials/Biomaterials Target Lipid Metabolism and Fight Diseases". With
this Collection we hope to provide a platform for communication and discussion
of the pharmacological mechanism of nanobiotechnology and lipid metabolism. Read
more about the scope here.

FEATURED SERIES: LIPID METABOLISM IN NONALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE

We are calling for submissions to our new Collection which will highlight
several topics including: early detection of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
(NAFLD), current therapy for NAFLD, new targets for treating NAFLD, treatment to
reduce cardiovascular risks associated with NAFLD, and translational
implications and challenges of lipid metabolism in NAFLD. Read more about the
scope here.

FEATURED SERIES: LIPID ABNORMALITIES IN ASD AND ASD-ASSOCIATED GENETIC DISORDERS
AND THE ASSOCIATED MTOR PATHWAY

We are calling for submissions to our new Collection which will highlight lipid
abnormalities identified in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ASD-associated
genetic disorders, including Smith Lemli Opitz syndrome, Rett syndrome, fragile
X syndrome, tuberous sclerosis, neurofibromatosis types 1 and 2, Angelman
syndrome, Down syndrome and PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome and the relationship
of ASD-associated genetic disorders to the mTOR pathway. Read more here.

FEATURED SERIES: LIPIDS IN INFLAMMATORY DISEASES

We are proud to announce a new thematic series, guest edited
by Christine Meisinger and Jakob Linseisen. The aim of this series is to collect
research papers to generate new insights into the role of lipids in the context
of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. We welcome articles, including
original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses on this relevant topic.
You can read more about the scope here.

FEATURED SERIES: METABOLIC REGULATION OF LIPIDS AND FATTY ACIDS AND RISK OF
CARDIOMETABOLIC DISEASE

We are proud to announce a new thematic series, guest edited by Vibeke
Telle-Hansen. This collection of papers addresses the role of lipids and lipid
metabolism in cancer. We warmly welcome all articles and reviews on solid and
non-solid tumors. We aim to include original research and up-to-date reviews on
individual regulation of lipids and fatty acids, in relation to different risk
profiles (metabotypes) of cardiometabolic disease. You can read more about the
scope, here.

FEATURED SERIES: SPHINGOMYELIN- KEY ROLES IN HEALTH AND DISEASE

We are proud to announce a new thematic series, guest edited by Rashika El Ridi
and Junfei Jin. We wish to welcome articles, including original research,
narrative reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, and mini-reviews which
establish the relation between sphingomyelin metabolism and cancer immune
evasion, thus allowing the discovery of unprecedented approaches and new
molecules for cancer prevention and therapy. Find out more about the scope here.

FEATURED SERIES: ROLE OF LIPIDS AND LIPID METABOLISM IN CANCER

We are proud to announce a new thematic series, guest edited by Christa Buechler
and Luiz Fernandes. This collection of papers in this addresses the role of
lipids and lipid metabolism in cancer. There is emerging evidence that lipids
and lipid metabolism are essential for cancer growth. The identification of
suitable serum lipid biomarkers as diagnostic tools is in the focus of current
research. Lipid metabolism may also become a target for cancer therapy. We
warmly welcome all articles and reviews on solid and non-solid tumors.. Find out
more about the scope here.

FEATURED SERIES: TARGETING LIPIDS FOR CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH: NOVEL MECHANISMS
AND THERAPEUTICS

We are proud to announce a new thematic series, guest edited by Felice Gragnano,
Arturo Cesaro and Paolo Calabrò.  People who maintain ideal
cardiovascular health have a high life expectancy and a low lifetime risk of
disabling and life-threatening medical conditions. Therefore, the identification
and adoption of novel strategies to pursue ideal cardiovascular health represent
a vital opportunity to improve the prevention and treatment of
cardiovascular diseases. Find out more about the scope here.

TOP-ALTMETRIC ARTICLES

Please check out the LHAD articles with the highest Altmetric scores, since
our journal launched in 2002. Altmetric calculates a score based on the online
attention an article receives. Social media and mainstream news media are the
main sources that calculate the score. Older articles often score higher because
they have had more time to get noticed. To account for this, Altmetric has
included the context data for other articles of a similar age.

TOP ARTICLES OF 2021

Please be sure to take a look at some of the top content published in Lipids in
Health and Disease this year, thus far! Articles which performed well as far as
citations, Altmetrics, and accesses are included.

AIMS AND SCOPE

Lipids in Health and Disease is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that
publishes articles on all aspects of lipids: their interaction with proteins,
(bio) chemistry, (molecular) pharmacology, (molecular) toxicology, natural
products chemistry, role in health and disease, in addition to the synthesis of
new lipid compounds, and enzyme systems involved in lipid metabolism.

Lipids in Health and Disease is aimed at all scientists, health professionals,
and physicians interested in lipids. Lipids are defined herein based on their
broadest sense, to include: cholesterol, essential fatty acids, saturated fatty
acids, phospholipids, inositol lipids, second messenger lipids, enzymes, and
synthetic machinery that is involved in the metabolism of various lipids in the
cells and tissues, and also various aspects of lipid transport. In addition, the
journal also publishes research that investigates and defines the role of lipids
in various physiological processes, pathology, and disease. In particular, the
journal aims to bridge the gap between the bench and the clinic by publishing
articles that are particularly relevant to human diseases and the role of lipids
in the management of various diseases.
