The controversial cancellation call comes after Skinner's side lifted the FA Cup trophy last Sunday with a 4-0 victory over Tottenham. Ella Toone and Rachel Williams both got on the scoresheet in the Wembley final, while Lucia Garcia bagged a second-half brace. Skinner is understanding of the situation and knows his side will receive a celebration down the line after winning their first piece of silverware. * * WHAT SKINNER SAID Skinner said, per the BBC: "I sit in a position of celebration rather than worrying about what has and hasn't happened. I understand the decision, I respect it and our girls will be presented at the appropriate time with the successes that a club will celebrate. I'm sure there will be [a celebration]. We'll sit down and have meetings but I know the club have been meeting around that. I'm sure the girls will be absolutely recognised for the successes." On the Wembley triumph, he added: "It's been a long season so I want to live in this space and I want to live in the happiness that the players have given our fans. From our perspective, I know the club will give and support the players' successes and we'll be happy with that." * Getty Images WHAT NEXT FOR UNITED? United, who are in their fifth season in the Women's Super League, still have a major role to play in the title race despite an indifferent 2023/24 top-flight campaign overall. Skinner's side host Chelsea in the final round of fixtures this weekend as the Blues seek to pip Manchester City to the crown. While the Red Devils won't like doing their noisy neighbours a big favour, victory over Chelsea could see United usurp Liverpool into fourth - provided the Reds lose away at Leicester the same day. * QUIZZES * Quiz: Only an Arsenal superfan can name at least 12/15 of these club legends * Quiz: Only a Liverpool superfan can name at least 12/15 of these club legends * Quiz: Only a Chelsea superfan can name at least 12/15 of these club legends * Quiz: Only an England superfan can name at least 12/15 of these national team legends * Quiz: Only an Argentina superfan can name at least 12/15 of these national team legends EDITORS' PICKS * ‘Rhulani thinks he is a football God, Makalima the only referee to refuse Downs’ 💸’ Premier Soccer League1 * 21 most disappointing signings of the EPL season - ranked Opinion5 * PSL Transfers & Rumours: Al Ahly reportedly set sights on Relebohile Mofokeng Premier Soccer League37 * 10 Best Betting Sites for May 2024: Our Top 10 in South Africa BETTING MOST READ * 1Club Statement: 'Chiefs to announce new coach & two signings' - Maphosa comments * 2‘Maybe Chiefs' 'new coach' is Pitso coming with Downs players’ * 3Perhaps not quite ‘like Maradona’ but Ngezana a FCSB masterstroke * 4Bayern savagely told why they aren't better off with Kane * 5Kane and fellow Bayern stars pushing for Tuchel to stay * 6Chiefs star to rub shoulders with global superstars Lionel Messi & Vinicius Jr * 7Johnson snubs Pirates star, names Downs duo as Player of the Season candidates * 8Jose Riveiro reveals how Pirates can beat Stellenbosch to Caf Champs League spot * Contact Us * Terms of Service * Privacy policy * Privacy Settings * Careers * Goal App (Android) * Goal App (iOS) * Goal Live * Betting * South Africa International (English)Arabic (العربية)Argentina (Español)Australia (English)Bahrain (English)Brasil (Português)Cameroon (English)Chile (Español)Colombia (Español)Dutch (Nederlands)Egypt (العربية)France (Français)Germany (Deutsch)Ghana (English)Hungary (Magyar)India (English)Indonesia (Indonesia)Italy (Italiano)Japanese (日本語)Kenya (English)Korea (한국어)Kuwait (English)Malaysia (English)Mexico (Español)Nigeria (English)Oman (English)Qatar (English)Saudi Arabia (العربية)Saudi Arabia (English)Singapore (English)South Africa (English)Spain (Español)Tanzania (English)Thailand (ไทย)Turkiye (Türkçe)Uganda (English)United Arab Emirates (English)United Kingdom (English)USA (English)Vietnam (Tiếng Việt) Copyright © 2024 Goal All rights reserved.
