*APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED*

Stirchley Co-operative Development is now closed for tenant member applications.
Thank you to everyone who applied, we will send an email to you soon. In the
meantime please bear with us as we have received a huge number of applications
for a limited number of flats.

ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP

We want the accommodation in SCD to be available to anyone in housing need,
however we have some criteria that applicants must meet. Please take a look at
the checklist below to see if you would be eligible to apply.

You or your household:

 * cannot own a property when you become a member
 * should have a strong connection to the area
 * cannot own a car when you become a member
 * should be prepared to contribute some time to the running of the co-op
 * should be interested in learning more about co-op living
 * understand there is no Right to Buy

NEXT STEPS IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS

After you’ve completed your application, which includes an assessment of your
level of housing need, all eligible applicants will be invited for interview by
the SCD membership group.

The interview itself will comprise of a panel of two to three current SCD
members. Where possible these will take place in person.

In the interview you will be asked about your interest in living in a
co-operative. We will also ask about your willingness to engage with the local
community, how you would deal with conflicts and issues when they arise and what
skills you might bring to the running of the co-operative.

Not all eligible applicants will be able to move into a flat due to limited
numbers, and it is possible you will be asked instead if you would like to join
the waiting list. Prospective tenants on the waiting list will be housed if a
flat becomes available.

We anticipate being able to let interviewees know the results of their
application in early 2024.

If you’d like to be added to our mailing list to get news and updates about the
project you can fill in our mailing list form.

You can also follow us on Twitter and Instagram.

DIVERSITY AND REPRESENTATION

Stirchley Co-operative Development encourages applications from
under-represented and marginalised groups. In addition we are providing four
ground floor accessible flats and take into consideration applicants with a
variety of access needs.

We recognise that applicants from under-represented and marginalised groups
often face some of the worst housing conditions and lack of access to decent
homes. Our housing needs scoring system prioritises those with greatest need.

We hope that through our membership we can reflect the diversity of Birmingham
as a whole and will continue to work towards that goal, now and in future
projects, as well as in the community organising that we support.

Stirchley Co-operative Development Ltd. is company number RS004496.

As a company registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies
Act 2014, the co-op is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
