DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE VERSION V8.1.1 (BACKUP ONLY – APRIL 2015)

Version 8.1.1 contains the following improved functionality:

 * System availability has been increased by expansion of the correction
mechanisms in case of temporary internal inconsistencies. In redundant
systems, an automatic resynchronization may thus be started in some rare
   cases.
 * Optimized handling of synchronization errors between the two CPUs of a
redundant system also increases system availability.
 * By expanding the diagnostic functionality in connection with additional
PROFIBUS CPs, the switchover time can be further reduced in some cases.
 * Avoidance of a synchronization error in conjunction with calling TCON (FB65)
and TDISCON (FB66) blocks in very rapid succession. The blocks are used to
establish and terminate connections for open IE communication.
 * The time status at the PN interfaces is now properly applied.

Recommendation: The update to this firmware version should be performed as soon
as possible.
CPU 410-5H firmware V8.1.1 can be used independent of SIMATICPCS 7 V8.1. You
also benefit from the corrections for the CPU410-5H when using SIMATIC PCS 7
V8.0.

Firmware update in RUN:
Within a faul-tolerant system firmware update in RUN is possible, from firmware
version V8.1.0 to version V8.1.1.
Note that upgrading from V8.0.x to V8.1.1 is only possible when the CPU is in
STOP mode.

NOTE: When using a PROFINET interface in conjunction with time synchronization
over this interface (slave to PNIO), the firmware update in RUN sometimes cannot
be performed due to an incorrect configuration. Such an incorrect configuration
is characterized by the different settings of CPU0 and CPU1 on the PROFINET
interface. In this case, correct the configuration or contact our Customer
Support for further assistance.

DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE VERSION V8.1.2 (BACKUP ONLY – DEC 2015)

Version 8.1.2 contains the following improvements:

 * The fault (16#4520D2xx) in conjunction with a program startup time of more
than 5 minutes was corrected. Such a long program startup time can occur with
a correspondingly long running startup OB (OB100, OB102) or with startup time
monitoring > 5 minutes (default: 65s) in conjunction with a missing device or
   DP slave (internal ref.: 1082167).

 * When an output module was pulled in a PROFINET device, for this module
address it was possible that an access ok in the process image was
incorrectly generated immediately after an access error in the process image
   (incoming), (internal ref.: 1389304).

 * When reading the device status on a PROFINET subsystem (0x694 and 0x794
system status list) with SFC51 "RDSYSST", the device status sometimes was not
displayed correctly if subslots without user data (e.g. a SCALANCE switch)
were configured in the PROFINET device (internal ref.: 1336667).

 * When a previously configured and loaded network at the PROFINET IO interface
X8 is deleted, LED BUS8F was incorrectly activated (internal ref .: 1327528).

 * When the available memory was no longer sufficient during an interface change
of a function block in runtime (TCIR), in rare cases the system went into
DEFECT mode and the entire automation system stopped (internal ref.:
   1502467).

 * In an H-system with a higher-level time synchronization, in very rare cases
the time of the automation system was set incorrectly for one update cycle
immediately after coupling and updating (internal ref.: 1492108).

 * In extremely rare cases, the CPU could go into DEFECT mode with the error
message "Checksum error" (ID: 16#4533) and the additional information 16#EDA4
   (internal ref.: 1442082).

 * The highly sporadic fault in the automation system with the identifier:
   16#4520 D26x was corrected (internal ref.: 1296418).

Version 8.1.2 also contains the following correction:

 * The SNMP data of the CPU410 have been harmonized with the other SIMATIC CPUs.
This changes the content of the SNMP variables "ifDescr" and
"sysLocation".These changes especially improve the interaction with the
SINEMA servers (internal ref.: 1401960 and 1401964).

Recommendation: The update to this firmware version should be performed as soon
as possible.

Firmware update in RUN:
Within a faul-tolerant system firmware update from firmware version V8.1.1 to
version V8.1.2 is possible in RUN.

The following corrections were made in firmware version V8.1.3:

 * A synchronization error in connection with reading the system status list
 * (SSL) 16#694 by means of SFC51 and Req=0 has been corrected (internal ref.:
   1631973).
 * In very rare cases, the CPU could change to the Defective operating state in
the event of configuration changes in Run on a single CPU (non-redundant
   operation). (Internal ref.: 1566295)
 * Optimization of memory compression in connection with PBK instances (PCS 7
   messages). (Internal ref.: 1505052)
 * In the context of HMI read access, the full configuration scope of 39 ANY
pointers can now be used. (Internal ref.: 1637821)

In addition, the following functional expansion was implemented:

 * Improvements and expansions relating to service data (internal ref.: 1548865)

Download V8.2

DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE VERSION V8.2.0 (BACKUP ONLY – MAY 2017)

Note that upgrading the CPU 410-5H firmware to V8.2.0 is only possible when the
CPU is in STOP mode.

Important information regarding change of CPU behavior caused by firmware V8.2.0
Firmware V8.2 changes the behavior of the CPU load memory. This change is
independent of the hardware version.
As of firmware V8.2, the content of the load memory is stored in a non-volatile
memory area of the CPU. This means the downloaded program and the configuration
do not depend on buffering by a battery. The load memory can only be completely
deleted with a memory reset or a factory reset.
Please note:
The CPU signals any existing program by flashing the RUN and STOP LEDs at a
different frequency (RUN: 0.5 Hz; STOP: 2 Hz) after the CPU has been switched
on. Startup of the CPU can be canceled in case of recommissioning, and a factory
reset (see Manual) can be performed before the current program is run.

Functional extensions through CPU 410-5H firmware V8.2.0

PROFINET extensions:

 * Support of redundant PROFINET configurations (R1). The CPU 410 Expansion Pack
(PN RED) is required to use this configuration. The procedure for
transferring licenses of this Expansion Pack is the same as the procedure for
extending the PO volume of the CPU 410.

 * Support of configuration changes during operation of the CPU in the H system
   (H-CiR) and stand-alone operation (CiR)

 * Support of time synchronization according to the PTCP method and Sequence of
   Event (SoE)

Security extensions:

 * New protection function for PROFIBUS and PROFINET interfaces (Field Interface
   Security)

 * Support of SysLog in combination with SIEM systems

Other extensions:

 * The load memory is preserved regardless of buffering by back-up batteries.
The CPU can restart independently even without back-up batteries after power
   failures.

 * The maximum size of data packets for communication was extended from 480 to
   960 bytes.

 * In stand-alone operation (Single AS), individual DP stations or PN devices
can now be activated or deactivated on PROFBUS and PROFINET by means of the
system function D_ACT_DP (SFC 12). This function is not available in case of
   a redundant configuration.

Additional details on the respective functional extensions is available in the
CPU 410 manual.

The following behavior is corrected with CPU 410-5H firmware V8.2.0:

 * The unwanted behavior when using SFC49 "LGC_GADR" to the diagnostic address
of the PROFINET IO (see Entry ID: 109736598) has been eliminated.

 * If a PROFINET network was configured to which no PN devices are connected, a
switch to the active IO controller of this empty network in the H system
could result in a transition of the CPU to the DEFECT operating state and
thus in a failure of the entire H system (see Entry ID: 109745029). (internal
   ref.: 2232241)

 * The behavior during monitoring of a block with multiple instances (multiple
devices or multiple windows) has been improved. The automation system now no
longer changes to the DEFECT operating state in very rare cases when exiting
   monitoring (internal ref.: 1926461)

 * During failure of an external DP master (CP443-5DX), the CPU no longer
switches to STOP operating state due to an I/O bus error. The CPU 410 tries
to initiate a system restart in this case.

 * During monitoring of blocks with conditional jump instructions in the
monitoring section, a DEFECT of the CPU could occur in case of specific
   command combinations. (internal ref.: 1925468)

 * In case of faulty parameter assignment of an area pointer, the system could
change to the DEFECT operating state in case of a subsequent write access.
   (internal ref.: 2091308)

 * When using a fail-safe program for more than 9 years (without switching off
the power supply), the CPU could change to the DEFECT operating state.
   (internal ref.: 2215726)

 * When loading fail-safe blocks, a memory reset request could be issued by the
CPU in very rare cases. (internal ref.: 2173858)

The following changes are the result of correcting the behavior:

 * UDP broadcast telegrams can be no longer received. The type of telegrams is
not used in SIMATIC PCS 7.

 * In case of jump instructions the actual data are no longer displayed when
monitoring blocks. Actual data are still displayed for all other types of
   commands.

CPU 410-5H firmware V8.2.0 can be used independent of SIMATIC PCS 7 V9.0. This
means you also benefit from the corrections for the CPU410-5H and the new
behavior of the load memory when using SIMATIC PCS 7 V8.x.

Note that upgrading from V8.0.x or V8.1.x to V8.2.0 is only possible when the
CPU is in STOP mode. Make sure that both CPUs of an H system have the same
firmware version prior to commissioning.

DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE VERSION V8.2.1 (BACKUP ONLY –  OCTOBER 2018)

Important information regarding change of CPU behavior caused by firmware
V8.2.0:
Firmware V8.2 changes the behavior of the CPU load memory. This change is
independent of the hardware version. As of firmware V8.2, the content of the
load memory is stored in a non-volatile memory area of the CPU. This means the
downloaded program and the configuration do not depend on buffering by a
battery. The load memory can only be completely deleted with a memory reset or a
factory reset.

The following behavior is corrected with CPU 410-5H and CPU 410E firmware
V8.2.1:

 * The behavior when monitoring blocks has been improved. A change into Defect
operating state with identifier 4550 8F01 no longer occurs (Internal ref.:
   2573914).
 * In extremely rare cases, the CPU switched to Defect operating state with
identifier 4550/8128 when using consistent user data (KND) > 32 bytes as well
as switched I/O, with simultaneous loss of synchronization (internal ref.:
   2572371)

 * Using PDM and writing a data set by controller application at the same time
and on the same periphery station may result in a system shut down in very
   rare cases (internal ref.: 2587574)
 * Increased robustness for non-standard-compliant messages / message sequences
of PROFINET devices (internal ref.: 2369969)
 * In extremely rare cases, a loss of synchronization was possible for OUC
connections that had, in principle, been set up but not established and which
are, however, actively terminated, in conjunction with time synchronization
in SIMATIC mode (time slave) (internal ref.: 2369640).
 * Robustness increase belongs to SNMP protocol failures were done.
Additionally, it is now possible to deactivate the SNMP protocol, see
   Entry-ID: 109760539  (internal ref.: 2377055)
 * After downloading a faulty configuration and subsequently correcting it, the
MAINT LED no longer remains constantly lit (internal ref.: 2344532).
 * It could happen sporadically after overall reset and reloading of the
controller application that the time of the CPU was no longer synchronized,
if one of the CPU internal interfaces was configured as NTP client and
another interface as master of the SIMATIC time synchronization. (internal
   ref.: 2388497).
 * Only for firmware version V8.2: In a configuration without time
synchronization of the CPU, the given correction factor of the time by the
module properties was not applied. Now again the time correction works
   correctly (internal ref.: 2533618).

 * When using NTP time synchronization with several NTP servers, the
synchronization could fail in rare cases, if the stratum of the NTP servers
   changes frequently (internal ref.: 2712587).

The CPU 410-5H firmware V8.2.1 can be used independently of SIMATIC PCS 7 V9.0.
This also allows you to benefit from the corrections for the CPU410-5H and the
new behavior of the load memory using SIMATIC PCS 7 V8.x.

Firmware update in RUN:
(Update 2020-05) For firmware update in RUN, please refer 109780677.

Note that upgrading from V8.0.x or V8.1.x to V8.2.1 is only possible when the
CPU is in STOP mode. Make sure that both CPUs of an H system have the same
firmware version prior to commissioning.

DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE VERSION V8.2.3 (BACKUP ONLY –  JULY 2022)

New function with firmware V8.2.3

From firmware version V8.2.3 in combination with an equivalent configuration
from STEP 7 V5.7 HF4 or PCS 7 V9.1 SP2 UC1, SNMP communication is deactivated by
default for additional security.

The firmware V8.2.3 can be used independently of the STEP 7 or PCS 7 version
used.

Please refer to the additional notes in the product information: ID 109811757.

With firmware V8.2.3 the following behavior is improved:

 * Additionally, the RSTP forwarding function is supported. (internal ref.:
   340172)
 * Optimized processing in case of very rare hardware defects additionally
increases system availability. (internal ref.: 71561)
 * The availability of the redundant automation system was increased by
extending the correction mechanisms for temporary internal inconsistencies.
The frequency of a one-way troubleshooting operation was further reduced.
   (internal ref.: 27206)
 * Further improved CPU self-diagnosis increases system availability in the
extremely rare event of a hardware defect.  The probability of a failure of
the automation system is further reduced. (internal ref.: 372931)
 * Coupling and data uploading in a redundant automation system runs more
   performantly. (internal ref.: 27261)
 * If in a highly available automation system a single-sided periphery is
configured on a slot before a switched periphery, a reboot of the current
StdBy CPU could occur after a data access to the switched periphery, e.g. via
the HW Config. There is no more unqualified reboot. (internal ref.: 20505)
 * The automatic name assignment for a PN device did not work if the topological
connection was subsequently inserted via CiR. (internal Ref.: 27279)
 * During the 2-step firmware update a short interruption of the AS-AS
communication could occur after loading the firmware (1st step). Please note
that this change will only take effect with the installed firmware V8.2.3.
   (internal ref. 27297)
 * Increase of robustness in case of PN string interruption for larger volume
scaffolds. Reboot with identifier 0x452b_0x4d09_0774_0000 no longer occurs.
   (internal ref.: 27308)
 * In the redundant automation system with PROFIBUS or PROFINET process
periphery, the behavior has been optimized for the extremely rare case of
defective modules or when pulling modules (e.g. ET 200SP HA: pulling a
redundant "side-by-side" module). Please refer to detailed information in
SIOS ID: 109809366 (internal ref.: 27311)
 * Increased robustness for CiR charging operations. (internal ref.: 27314,
   70214)
 * The automation system remains available after an SZL query (SZL ID=0x19a, MAC
address) on a failed device. (internal ref.: 27334)
 * After a CiR operation, SZL 0x94 now provides the correct state information.
   (internal ref.: 79586)
 * Further increase in robustness for cyclic station failure/return and larger
   quantity scaffolds. (internal ref.: 294449)
 * In extremely rare cases, after a buffered power ON and subsequent loading of
very large devices, first a sync. loss followed by a total failure of the
automation system could occur. (internal ref.: 367119)
 * The synchronization (coupling and uploading) in a redundant automation system
with additional CPs runs more performant. (internal ref. 371964)

Note on firmware update in RUN
In H-systems it is possible to update the firmware in RUN from version V8.2.2 to
version V8.2.3. Please refer to the additional notes in the product release: ID
109811757.

Please note when using the two-step firmware update that after loading the
firmware V8.2.2 (1st step) an interruption of the AS-AS communication may occur.
Updating the firmware in one step works without interruption of the AS-AS
communication.

Download V8.2.4

DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE VERSION V8.2.4 (CURREND VERSION –  SEP 2023)

New functions with firmware V8.2.4:

 * From firmware V8.2.4, the CPU 410 Expansion Pack (PN red) is no longer
necessary to operate R1 devices. To operate a redundant PN device, a "PN red"
license is no longer necessary. Existing "PN red" licenses on the System
Expansion Card will no longer be evaluated or displayed. Please also note
that a redundant programmable controller must be set up identically with
respect to licensing ("same on both sides").
 *
 * Rapid route selection is supported for PCS 7 Route Control (RC) applications.
Please note that, when downloading to the programmable controller (e.g., when
downloading changes in the user program or engineering), delays may occur
when selecting a route in Route Control. For further information please refer
to the SIMATIC Route Control documentation. For further information please
refer to the SIMATIC Route Control documentation.

General improvements:

 * After calling SFC109, the standby CPU will no longer temporarily go into
   error-search mode. (Internal ref.: 512442)
 *
 * The standby CPU accepts a valid time telegram from an NTP server via an
internal interface, even in the case of a separate network connection of the
   primary CPU. (Internal ref.: 502750)
 *
 * During CiR downloading of a multiproject when using two Engineering Systems
connected to the plant bus, DI modules of a PROFIBUS ET 200M station may
experience a temporary reset of the signals to the value "0" if the project
expansion and the CiR download were performed on different Engineering
Systems. Operation with multiple Engineering Systems has been improved. Input
signals are correctly acquired under the aforementioned conditions, even
during a CiR download. (Internal ref.: 490003)
 *
 * With a multiproject, in rare cases changes made via CiR (Configuration in
Run) in the checked-out project may be reverted after re-integration into the
multiproject. This would cause the system to lose its CiR capability. The
behavior in this regard has been changed so that changes made with CiR are
retained and the CiR capability is maintained. (Internal ref.: 489976)
 *
 * CiR download processes when using ASi links with more than 250 subslots will
no longer cause a memory reset request. (Internal ref.: 491612)
 *
 * The system's robustness with respect to an increased number of faults at the
interface of the PROFIBUS CP (CP 443-5) has been improved. (Internal ref.:
   398988)
 *
 * Increased system availability in connection with one-sided engineered I/O
devices in the fault-tolerant system. The system will remain in operation
during master/backup switchovers in redundant mode and will no longer
sporadically and temporarily go into one-sided troubleshooting mode.
   (Internal ref.: 449900)
 *
 * After a power OFF/ON cycle, the newly restarted CPU in a redundant automation
system will no longer demand a memory reset with the Event ID: 16#4556. After
starting up, the CPU will synchronize with the redundant partner; the
programmable controller will be in "Redundant" mode. (Internal ref.: 557287)

Note on firmware update in RUN
In H-systems it is possible to update the firmware in RUN from version V8.2.3 to
version V8.2.4.

Please refer furthermore to the additional notes in the product
release: 109811757. The firmware V8.2.4 in the CPU can be run with a projecting
in the hardware configuration as an V8.2 or V8.2.3 object.
