The capsule has a spinning robotic cap that tunnels through the mucus barrier lining the small intestine, allowing drugs to pass into cells beneath. Hynes was honored for the discovery of integrins, proteins that are key to cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions in the body. IN THE MEDIA The MIT Museum reopens this weekend in its new location in Kendall Square, which GBH calls “quite significant because this is the heart of innovation.” Visitors will get a sense of MIT’s long history of innovation and a feel for the scientific process. FEATURED VIDEO Before babies learn to talk, it’s almost impossible to know what they’re thinking. Ashley Thomas, a cognitive scientist at MIT’s McGovern Institute, has begun to unlock the mystery of babies’ brains using a very unusual tool: puppets. COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT Guy Bresler works at the four-way intersection where theoretical computer science, statistics, probability, and information theory collide. At this juncture, “there are always opportunities for entirely new questions to ask,” he says. RESEARCH NEWS This battery-free, wireless underwater camera could have many uses, including climate modeling. “This technology could help us build more accurate climate models and better understand how climate change impacts the underwater world,” says Fadel Adib. IN THE MEDIA Donald Sadoway spoke with the Boston Globe about his work to develop a safer, cheaper battery that could be used to store renewable energy.
