Now in its 13th season, the multi-Emmy Award-winning show gives budding entrepreneurs the chance to bring their dreams to fruition by presenting their ideas to the "sharks" in the tank — Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, Kevin O'Leary, Emma Grede and Kevin Hart — all of whom made their own dreams a reality and turned their ideas into lucrative empires. OnHoustonChronicle.com: Mark Cuban's latest business venture is a cash-only pharmacy that takes aim at crushing drug prices Advertisement Article continues below this ad The contestants try to convince any one of the sharks to invest money in their idea. When more than one of the sharks decides they want a piece of the action, the stakes are raised and a bidding war can erupt, driving up the price of the investment. Tonight's episode, 16, airs at 7 p.m. Krish Himmatramka hopes an investment from any of the sharks will take Do Amore to the next level. He launched the venture in 2014, right around the time he was shopping for an engagement ring to pop the question to his now-wife. "I wasn’t happy with anything so I wanted to make my own thing," Himmatramka said. "It bothered me that sometimes engagement rings came with questions of ethics." But he wanted Do Amore to be so much more than a jewelry company. Advertisement Article continues below this ad NEXT LEVEL: This Humble mother of 4 was stuck in an abusive marriage. Now she's a successful bakery owner. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010, he returned to the Bayou City and worked for an oil and gas company where he was stationed on a drilling rig. There, he quickly learned how hard it is to drill for oil versus how easy it is to drill for water. "It took weeks to get to oil, but you hit water within minutes," he said. "Having seen the water crisis when I was younger, this bothered me because there was literally clean water right beneath people's feet, but they didn't know how to get to it." Then simultaneously he found both the purpose for his business and the perfect ring for his wife, one he crafted himself. "I decided that I wanted to propose with a ring that didn't just not hurt the world, but actually help the world," he said. "With my proposal, Do Amore was born." The name was inspired from its Latin translation, which means “I give with love.” He said he chose the name because with a purchase, you are giving a ring to your loved one, while giving clean water to those in need, and their rings "do more" because they change lives. Rings purchased from Do Amore help to alleviate the world water crisis in up to 11 countries including Zimbabwe, Haiti, Nepal, India, Ethiopia, among others. To date the company's sales have supplied nearly 14,000 people with access to clean water with the construction of 56 wells, according to its website Himmatramka says he's proud of the impact the company is making already, but with the help of a shark he hopes they can do more and change the world. "It is an honor to be on Shark Tank," he said Friday. "I know it's going to be a super exciting episode and everyone is going to get to see if our local Houston company, Do Amore, gets a deal to take this to the next level or not." He plans to spend the evening watching the show with close family, friends, and team members at an outdoor watch party. WHAT CAN SHARK TANK FANS EXPECT? A lot of hard questions, Himmatramka said. "They’re going to see someone who’s super passionate about what they’re doing and super committed. They’re definitely going to see the Houston connection in the pitch without a doubt. They’ll also see someone’s who’s very confident but also very nervous about it. Someone who really has a desire to find someone that can help him take this to the next level. I feel like we have something special here that can change the world. And we’re already changing the world." This story will be updated with Himmatramka's behind the scenes insights once the show airs.
