"I deeply regret the death of the 12 passengers and two crew members who were

of Amazonas state on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Our teams have been working
from the outset to provide the necessary support. My sympathy and prayers go out

confirming that there had been an accident and that it was investigating but
offering no details about deaths or injuries. "We count on respect for the
privacy of those involved at this difficult time and will be available to
provide all necessary information and updates as the investigation progresses,"
the statement said. Some Brazilian media outlets reported that U.S. citizens
were among those killed. Reuters was unable to confirm those reports.

The accident took place in the Barcelos province, some 400 km (248 miles) from
the state capital, Manaus. A plane crash in Brazil's northern Amazon state on
Saturday has left 14 dead, the state's governor said. The accident took place in
the Barcelos province, some 400 km (248 miles) from the state capital, Manaus.
"I deeply regret the death of the 12 passengers and two crew members who were
victims of the plane crash in Barcelos on Saturday," said Wilson Lima, Governor
of Amazonas state on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Our teams have been working
from the outset to provide the necessary support. My sympathy and prayers go out
to their families and friends." The Manaus Aerotaxi airline issued a statement
confirming that there had been an accident and that it was investigating but
offering no details about deaths or injuries. "We count on respect for the
privacy of those involved at this difficult time and will be available to
provide all necessary information and updates as the investigation progresses,"
the statement said. Some Brazilian media outlets reported that U.S. citizens
were among those killed. Reuters was unable to confirm those reports.

Chasing Deforestation is a series that explores Earth's most threatened
forests through satellite data and reporters on the ground. In the second
episode, your host, Romi Castagnino, takes you to the forests of Autazes in
the Brazilian Amazon. We do a deep dive into the history and social dynamics
that shaped the region over the last century. Our guest, reporter Ana Ionova,
talks about the drivers of deforestation inside an indigenous reserve that is

During the 2022 High-Level Political Forum, Science Panel for the Amazon held
an event on July 7th to discuss "A Green and Inclusive Recovery for the
Amazon". Speakers included André Baniwa, Liliana Dávalos, Andrés Lescano, and
Carlos Nobre. The Amazon is one of the regions most affected by the COVID-19
crisis and has also long been approaching a tipping point of no return. The
Amazon's ecosystem services are threatened, which could lead to major
humanitarian and environmental crises, including future pandemics and
catastrophic global climate change impacts. This event highlights how the
Amazon has been affected and discuss potential solutions to build resilience,
avoid future pandemics, avoid irreversible tipping points and advance
sustainable development pathways—including restoration, investments in
   science, technology, innovation, and bioeconomy.

of the most fascinating places I have ever explored. It is hard for me to
find the correct words to describe the magnificence the landscape
irradiates to all your senses. I guess the best description would be a
powerful sense of prehistory, of traveling back in time, to the place
where everything was created, where life started, you feel in the
cosmogony.” Ivan Mikolji If you like Mikolji's work and want him to create

The accident took place in the Barcelos province, some 400 km (248 miles)
from the state capital, Manaus. A plane crash in Brazil's northern Amazon
state on Saturday has left 14 dead, the state's governor said. The
accident took place in the Barcelos province, some 400 km (248 miles) from
the state capital, Manaus. "I deeply regret the death of the 12 passengers
and two crew members who were victims of the plane crash in Barcelos on
Saturday," said Wilson Lima, Governor of Amazonas state on X, formerly
known as Twitter. "Our teams have been working from the outset to provide
the necessary support. My sympathy and prayers go out to their families
and friends." The Manaus Aerotaxi airline issued a statement confirming
that there had been an accident and that it was investigating but
offering no details about deaths or injuries. "We count on respect for the
privacy of those involved at this difficult time and will be available to
provide all necessary information and updates as the investigation
progresses," the statement said. Some Brazilian media outlets reported
that U.S. citizens were among those killed. Reuters was unable to confirm
those reports.
