NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER

JOB OVERVIEW

TE Connectivity’s IT Infrastructure Teams are responsible for IT infrastructure
(voice/data networks, firewalls, phone systems, video conference systems, proxy
servers, DNS, domain controllers, WAN optimization controllers, monitoring
software and security systems). They define, design and implement network
communications and solution improvements. TE’s IT Infrastructure Teams also
analyze, design, acquire and implement projects for LAN and/or WAN systems;
plan, design, acquire and implement telecommunications voice/wire systems;
propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that
will improve the performance and reliability of the system.

 
Dimensions

 * Environment: TE’s global network, network security, and voice team supports
   75,000+ TE users at over 400 locations in 50+ countries utilizing 1,000+
   applications.  Network, Network Security, and Voice devices are located in
   all TE sites as well as primary data center hubs in the US, Germany,
   Netherlands, Japan, China and Hong Kong.

 
Business Unit Description TEIS GISS 
Position Overview:   This position is responsible for the design, maintenance,
and day to day operational support of TE’s global network security
(Firewall/Proxy) architectures.  The individual in this role will be involved in
the architecture/strategy, day-to-day management, and projects associated with
the network architectures. They will join a team to be the day-to-day support
for all Firewall and Proxy related network infrastructure.  Key objectives in
this role are technology standardization, simplification, and automation of the
firewalls while considering reliability and scalability.

 

Responsibilities:

 * Experience with Checkpoint Firewall technology (Other FW vendors expertise
   considered)
 * Experience with Zscaler Cloud Proxy technology (Other vendors expertise
   considered)
 * Solid understanding of network infrastructure (routing/switching), cloud
   networking security, and proxy services in order to troubleshoot PC, server,
   and application Firewall issues. 
 * Robust/broad troubleshooting skills.
 * Design, install, and maintain highly complex global network and firewall
   architectures.
 * Actively participates in the resolution of ServiceNow tickets by taking
   ownership of tickets, resolving and closing with proper detail. Works with
   other engineers to support the closure of tickets where applicable.
 * Participates or Leads in priority incidents by actively sitting on MIM (Major
   Incident Management) bridges. Provides regular status updates to peers and
   management. Able to translate complex technical issues into layman's terms to
   provide executive updates.
 * Monitors and drives Firewall upgrades, patching, replacement, and lifecycle
   management to ensure environment stability and audit compliance. 
 * Proactively monitors and tune the Firewall architecture to achieve optimum
   performance levels; provide performance statistics and reports.
 * Experienced with working in a large, global, follow-the-sun support
   organization. 
 * Provide off-hours support through the use of a global follow-the-sun team and
   minor rotating on call. May serve as an escalation for on-call issues.
 * Special projects as assigned.


WHAT YOUR BACKGROUND SHOULD LOOK LIKE:

 * Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
 * Minimum of 2+ years of firewall experience
 * Strong understanding of Network Security principles
 * Strong understating of Enterprise Networking (ports/protocols/packets)
 * Strong understanding of Application Architecture
 * Excellent troubleshooting skills

Compensation  
Competitive pay commensurate with experience: $82k to $103k salary doe (subject
to change dependent on physical location) 
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right
to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected
candidate as well as internal and external equity.
