We're making it even easier to keep your books up to date when you connect an account to online banking. Many banks are switching to a new connection service called OAuth. We're also switching to OAuth to make online banking even better. Under the hood, the connection is faster and sign-ins are easier. Here's what you need to know. WHICH BANKS USE OAUTH? These banks currently use OAuth to connect with QuickBooks Online: * Capital One * Chase Bank * Wells Fargo * Bank of America * Citibank * PNC Financial Services * USAA We plan to switch over to OAuth to connect to most banks. WHAT SHOULD I DO TO GET READY FOR THE SWITCH? There's nothing you need to do right now. When your bank is ready to switch to OAuth, you'll get several emails and a notification on Bank transactions (Take me there). WHEN WILL MY BANK SWITCH TO OAUTH? Each bank is on its own schedule. When your bank is ready to switch, we'll let you know. Once your accounts have been flagged for migration, you typically have one month (30 calendar days) to complete the update. IS SWITCHING OPTIONAL? Since Intuit is partnering with the banks to build this new and more reliable connection, we need everyone to make the switch. Individuals can't opt-out. If you don't update your connection, you won't be able to sync your connected accounts or get new transactions. DO I STILL GET MY OLD TRANSACTIONS WITH OAUTH? Absolutely. In the past, banks let you download up to 90 days of historical transactions. Now some banks let you download up to two years of historical transactions. HOW DO I UPDATE MY CONNECTION WHEN IT'S TIME TO SWITCH? CONNECT A NEW ACCOUNT TO ONLINE BANKING Follow these steps if you're connecting an account for the first time. If your bank already uses OAuth, you'll have the most up-to-date connection. UPDATE EXISTING ACCOUNTS CONNECTED TO ONLINE BANKING Once you get an email or notification, your bank is ready to switch to OAuth: 1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online in a web browser. 2. Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions, then select Bank transactions (Take me there). 3. Find the notification and select Update now. This takes you to your bank's website. 4. Sign in as the primary account user and authorize the connection. Learn more about who can set up OAuth.Follow the on-screen instructions to switch to OAuth. Once you agree to switch, we'll take care of the rest. Your bank sends us a data token so QuickBooks can start downloading your transactions. We'll use this token instead of your sign-in info to make the connection. This way, even if you make changes on your bank's website, we can still download your transactions. WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I SEE AN ERROR WHEN UPDATING MY CONNECTION? Here's what to do if you see an error while connecting your account or downloading transactions. Was this helpful?
