GRADUATE ADMISSION
Applicants who have completed at least an undergraduate degree and are
interested in pursuing a Master’s degree, PhD, or just planning to take several
graduate-level courses should apply for Graduate Admission. Graduate-level
students may take both undergraduate and graduate-level courses at Dallas
International University.
Applicants interested in only taking a few courses (up to 10 credit hours) may
prefer to apply for Gateway Admission as there are fewer requirements.

For those seeking an MA or PhD at Dallas International University:
By procedure, all DIU students are admitted as “non-degree-seeking” students.
Students seeking an MA degree at DIU will complete an Intended Plan of Study
(IPS) with the help of their academic advisor. The IPS is normally completed by
the end of the student’s first semester. It is only after the IPS has been
approved by their department that DIU will recognize the student as being
admitted into a particular MA degree program.
For entry into a PhD program, applicants must fulfill all the requirements of
their intended program in addition to the general requirements for graduate

A non-refundable $70 fee will be required if you submit your application form
after the late fee deadline. You can pay the late fee using the payment options

2. SEND US YOUR TRANSCRIPTS
For Graduate Admission, Dallas International University requires official copies
of all post-high school transcripts showing classes completed, grades attained,
and degree(s) (or diploma) granted where courses were taken toward a degree or
pertaining to an expected study program at Dallas International. Additional
transcripts may be requested. Please contact admissions@diu.edu if you are
uncertain which transcripts to send.
GPA requirements for Graduate Admission can be found by clicking this link. A
graduate degree transcript may qualify you to not be required to submit
undergraduate transcripts.
Transcripts should come directly to DIU from the school itself or be in an
unopened, signed and sealed envelope which you received directly from the
school.
Electronic transcripts sent by the school to admissions@diu.edu are acceptable
as long as the school recognizes them as official.
If using regular mail instead, schools should direct transcripts to

Foreign transcripts: Official academic records from outside the United States
should be sent to a transcript evaluation service to verify U.S. equivalency of
courses taken and grades and degrees received. Applicants may use any NACES
member (https://www.naces.org/) transcript evaluation service such
as SpanTran:TEC, or Educational Credential Evaluators (www.ECE.org). DIU
applicants who choose to use SpanTran will receive a 10% discount. Click here to
go to the SpanTran portal. DIU requires a “course-by-course evaluation.” Please
contact isc@diu.edu with any questions.
3. HAVE THREE NON-FAMILY MEMBERS SUBMIT A REFERENCE FORM
Dallas International admission requires 3 academic/character references from
non-family members. Please send each one a copy of this reference form and have
them fill it out and return it directly to us at Admissions@diu.edu.
Whom should you ask for letters of recommendation? The Admissions Office
strongly suggests these three categories from which to select your references: A
former professor or teacher; a coach, supervisor, mentor, or other “leader” in
your life; a longtime personal or family friend. Those you select should have
known you long enough and well enough to “communicate what makes you distinct
and special. . . .” *
What makes a good letter of recommendation? “Reference letters should discuss
your academic ability and potential, but they should also shed light on your

characteristics and demonstrate those traits through specific anecdotes and

4. COMPLETE A WRITTEN STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Why do you want to study at Dallas International? Send us (via email or snail
mail) a written statement of purpose. Many applicants complete this requirement
with a paragraph or two.
5. IF REQUIRED, SEND US YOUR GRE SCORES
You do not need to send us your GRE scores if:
* You have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a
GPA of at least 3.30 OR
* You have completed at least 15 graduate credits from an accredited
institution with a GPA of at least 3.50 OR
* You have completed a graduate degree from an accredited institution with a
GPA of at least 3.00
You do need to send us your GRE scores if:
* Both of the above statements regarding graduate credit are not true of you
AND
* You have completed a bachelor’s degree, but your GPA was less than 3.30 OR
* You have completed a bachelor’s degree, but your institution was not
accredited.
GRE scores presented to DIU should not be more than 5 years old.

6. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS
Non-native speakers of English should provide evidence of satisfactory
performance on the TOEFL (Dallas International school code: 6605),the IELTS, or
the Common European Framework of Reference for Language evaluation. Only scores
fewer than 2 years old are considered valid for admission purposes. Visit the

7. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS REQUIRING A VISA
If you will be needing a student visa while studying at Dallas International,
please visit our International Student admission page for steps and
instructions. The visa application process takes time, so be sure to apply

8. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR COOPERATIVE PROGRAM STUDENTS
DIU requires evidence of acceptance or enrollment at a cooperative institution
from students who wish to participate in a cooperative program at DIU. This
proof could be a copy of an acceptance letter, an official transcript from the
school showing enrollment in the program, or a letter or email directly from the
school that confirms acceptance or enrollment in the cooperative program.
