ASCIP “MANY MINDS…ONE VISION”

ASCIP membership provides medical professionals advanced learning opportunities
and professional networking that enhances your professional interests, as well
as those of your patients and their families. ASCIP is a not for profit
incorporated association comprised of 4 professional sections: American
Paraplegia Society (APS), Association of Spinal Cord Injury Nurses (ASCIN),
Psychologists, Social Workers & Counselors (PSWC) and Therapy Leadership Council
(TLC).

SCI/D through advanced interdisciplinary education, professional development and

American Paraplegia Society

The APS is dedicated to improving the quality of care delivered to persons with
spinal cord impairment. The mission of the American Paraplegia Society is to
advance spinal cord medicine through state of the art education, dissemination
of information, and promotion of research and advocacy.

Psychologists, Social Workers
and Counselors

The Academy's Psychologists, Social Workers & Counselors Section specializes in
the provision of psychosocial services to meet the cognitive, social, emotional,
and behavioral needs of persons affected by spinal cord impairment.

Spinal Cord Injury Nurses

The Academy Spinal Cord Injury Nurses section, formerly known as the American
Association of Spinal Cord Injury Nurses, believes that spinal cord impairment
and related disorders are multifaceted, catastrophic experiences for individuals
that have implications for families, significant others and society as a whole.

TLC

Therapy Leadership Council

Therapy Leadership Council began in 2004 as a small meeting of VA SCI
therapists. The meeting was held in Seattle, Washington and was sponsored by a
grant from the United Spinal Association. TLC’s meeting eventually became a
parallel meeting with the Congress on Spinal Cord Injury Medicine.
