There are no fees associated with Info Update, Knox Box, and Attempt
Inspections.  If this report is for one of those Inspection Types, please
disregard the following explanation of fees.

Inspection Fees:

In accordance with section 34-6 of the Chesapeake City Code, a fee of fifty
dollars ($50.00) shall be paid to the City for each inspection conducted to
determine compliance with the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code (SFPC) as
amended.  The initial fifty dollar ($50.00) fee will cover the first inspection
and up to two (2) re-inspections.  Each subsequent re-inspection conducted to
determine compliance with the Virginia SFPC will incur an additional fifty
dollar ($50.00) charge.  The Fire Inspector cannot take any payment (s).  This
report is not a bill.  An invoice will be forthcoming from the Chesapeake City
Treasurer.  Please note:  In accordance with section 111.4 of the SFPC, failure
to comply is a Class One (1) misdemeanor and could result in up to twelve (12)
months in jail, and a fine of up to $2,500.

Also, in accordance with section 34-6 of the Chesapeake City Code a fee of fifty
dollars ($50.00) shall be paid to the City for each fire code operational permit
obtained pursuant to the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code as amended.
Fire code operational permits are valid for one year unless otherwise noted on
the permit.  It is the permit holder's responsibility to call 382-CITY (2489) to
request an annual inspection and permit renewal.

Modification Request/Right to Appeal:

In accordance with Section 106.5 of the SFPC, you have the right to request a
modification of any provision of the SFPC, provided the spirit and intent of the
SFPC are observed and public health, welfare and safety are assured.

Nearly all questions or concerns can be solved through the Community Risk
Reduction Division. If you have any questions about your inspection we encourage
you to discuss them with your Fire Inspector. If you are still not satisfied,
please contact our office to discuss the matter further at
Public@CityofChesapeake.net or (757)382-6566.

If you still are not in agreement with the results, the SFPC Section 112 gives
you the right to appeal a decision of the fire code official concerning the
application of the SFPC or the fire official's refusal to grant a code
modification. This appeal will be made to the Chesapeake Board of Fire
Prevention Code Appeals- they are an independent body, appointed by the
Chesapeake City Council. You have 14 calendar days from the application of the
code to submit your application to the Board. Failure to submit an application
for appeal within the time limit established by the SFPC shall constitute
acceptance of the fire official's decision. Thank you for your cooperation in
keeping your business and our community safe! If you have any questions, please
contact us at the number listed above.

The Chesapeake Fire Department adheres to the City of Chesapeake CARE
principles.
