JERRY LARA/San Antonio Express-News Express-News Interstate 35 lanes were reopened just before noon Tuesday after a crash involving two tractor-trailers that struck two utility poles jammed highway traffic in Selma for most of the morning. 0:02 / 1:29 Watch More Small Business Highlight: Feliz Modern Selma police were called to I-35 near Evans Road around 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, when a northbound tractor-trailer struck the concrete median and the base of a CPS Energy pole and jackknifed, said Selma police spokesman Ken Roberts. A second tractor-trailer then crashed into the first, Roberts said, and also jackknifed, blocking the northbound lanes. The pole, meanwhile, twisted precariously, threatening traffic on I-35 south. Advertisement Article continues below this ad “The pole was in danger of toppling over and dropping live wires on the highway,” Roberts said, “so (the Texas Department of Transportation) decided to close both directions of I-35.” Neither driver sustained serious injuries. A light pole was also struck by one of the vehicles, Roberts said, and fell into the southbound lanes, according to CPS Energy spokesman John Moreno.
