HANSEN MULLER MARCHAND IS A LUXEMBOURG LITIGATION LAW FIRM.

The firm was founded in 2015 by Joseph Hansen, Charles Muller and Hervé Hansen.
Céline Marchand joined the partnership on 1 January 2018. Joseph brings the
experience of 45 years at the Bar in independent practice to a dynamic and
internationally oriented team. We advise in English, French, German and
Luxembourgish

JOSEPH HANSEN

Partner – avocat à la Cour

Joseph Hansen holds a degree in philosophy (licence en philosophie) from the St
Albert Faculty in Louvain and a law degree (licence en droit) from the
University of Louvain.

He joined the Luxembourg Bar in 1973 and has been in independent practise since
1976, when he founded his own firm “Etude Joseph Hansen”.

From 1980 to 1999, he was a deputy member (conseiller suppléant) of the
Luxembourg Court of Auditors (Chambre des Comptes du Grand-Duché de
Luxembourg). 

From 1995 to 1999, he chaired the Luxembourg Bar Association’s disciplinary
board (Conseil disciplinaire et administratif des avocats du Grand–Duché de
Luxembourg). 

In 2015, he co-founded Hansen & Muller with Charles Muller and Hervé Hansen.

Joseph has accumulated extensive experience in both advocacy and advisory work.
His recent practise has tended to focus on real estate and inheritance matters.

CÉLINE MARCHAND

Partner – avocat à la Cour

Céline Marchand holds a master’s degree in law from the Université catholique de
Louvain, as well as an LL.M. in European Law from King’s College London.

She became a member of the Luxembourg Bar in 2010 and worked in a leading
Luxembourg law firm from 2009 to 2015 where she was practicing civil, commercial
and administrative litigation. She left in 2015 in order to work as case-handler
at the Conseil de la concurrence, the Luxembourg Competition authority. She
acquired a breadth of experience in competition law in both compliance and
litigation matters. She was also involved in the advisory legislative work of
the authority.

In January 2018, Celine joined the firm as partner.

Céline’s main interest lies in public and administrative law in general, and
competition, public procurement and urban planning law in particular. Her
practice is also in civil and commercial litigation.

Céline is a member of the Luxembourg Bar Council (Conseil de l’Ordre). She is
also a member of the board of directors and secretary of the Luxembourg
association for the study of competition law (ALEDC – association
luxembourgeoise pour l’étude du droit de la concurrence), and of the Luxembourg
association for environmental law (ALDE – association pour le droit de
l’environnement).

CHARLES MULLER

Partner – avocat à la Cour

Charles Muller holds a Master’s degree in Business Law from the Université
Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris I), a joint Master’s 2 degree in Global Business Law
from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and the Université
Panthéon-Sorbonne, as well as an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, toward which he
received a Fulbright scholarship.

He became a member of the Luxembourg Bar in 2011. From 2011 to 2014, he was an
associate at a leading Luxembourg law firm. In 2015, he co-founded Hansen &
Muller with Joseph Hansen and Hervé Hansen.

Charles is accredited as a mediator in civil and commercial matters by the
ministre de la Justice and is listed on the Centre of Civil and Commercial
Mediation‘s list of accredited mediators.

He focuses mainly on civil and commercial litigation and real estate matters.

HERVÉ HANSEN

Partner – avocat à la Cour

Hervé Hansen holds a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the
University of Oxford, a B.A. in Law from the University of Cambridge and a
“Maîtrise en Droit” from the Université Panthéon Assas (Paris II).

He became a member of the Luxembourg Bar in 2012. From 2012 to 2014, he was an
associate at a leading Luxembourg law firm. In 2015, he co-founded Hansen &
Muller with Joseph Hansen and Charles Muller.

He was a member of the Luxembourg Bar Council (Conseil de l’Ordre) from 2017
until 2022.

He teaches the international private law course which is part of the Cours
complémentaires de droit luxembourgeois (professional training course for
aspiring Luxembourg lawyers). 

Hervé’s practice is mainly in civil and commercial litigation, as well as
white-collar crime.

YANIS HAMAMA

Associate - avocat à la Cour

Yanis Hamama holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Economic Law
(Innovation Law track) from Institut d’études politiques de Paris (Sciences
Po). As part of his studies, he spent one year at Yale-NUS College in 2017 and
one semester at McGill University in 2020

He became a member of the Luxembourg Bar in 2021. Prior to joining Hansen Muller
Marchand, Yanis was an associate at a leading Luxembourg law firm.


LYNN KIEFFER

Associate - avocat

Lynn Kieffer holds a Bachelor’s degree from the faculté de droit
d’Aix-en-Provence, a Master’s degree in International and European Law from the
Université de Strasbourg, a Master’s 2 degree in EU Economic Law from the
Université Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris I), as well as an LL.M. in European Law from
the Collège d’Europe (Bruges). As part of her studies, she spent a year at the
University of Hamburg.

She was admitted to the Luxembourg Bar in June 2022.

Océane joined Hansen Muller Marchand in October 2021 as legal assistant. She is
fluent in French and English.
