ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My name is Paulette Cato-Tyson, a wife and mother of two, living in the busy
city of London. I am a Life Story Practitioner for a London borough, previously
employed in the adoption team writing later in life letters and life story books
for adopted children. Since 2019, I have been working in the special
guardianship team, continuing with the same work. I am a qualified Therapeutic
Life Story Practitioner, Life Story Trainer, and qualified Family Mediator. Life
story work is connecting children, who do not live with their birth parents,
with their story through either a letter or book. This brings the child and
their primary carers into an understanding of why the child came into their
care, helps to secure and strengthen their attachments and to reconcile them to
an identity and history they have lost. These bespoke books that I create helps
the children become accustomed to their difficult story and becoming familiar
with their current situation in an age-appropriate manner.

Information is gathered from their social work file, professionals, birth
parents and other family members, some of which requires me to visit, homes,
prisons, and rehabilitation centres all across the country. I acquired a job as
a mentor and was quickly promoted to assistant head of year at a secondary
school and later becoming head of behaviour in the next secondary school, which
stretched from 2006 until 2013, both in a multi-cultural, inner-city area.
During lockdown, I knew I needed to expand my skills and delve into my passion
of writing. I joined the Michael Heppell ‘Write That Book’ group, where I gained
knowledge to develop the book I had already begun to form, and being confident
in exposing my work to a wider network. I would like to officially add to my
list of accomplishments that I am a fictional author, and my book will be
launched soon.

RATION CHALLENGE 2022

Hello! For the fourth year in a row, I'm taking part in the Ration Challenge in
support of Concern Worldwide (UK). I want to tell you a little about what that
entails, why I'm doing it, and how you can help. In a nutshell: for one week, I
eat the same rations as a Syrian refugee living in a camp in Jordan.

My rations include a one-week supply of the same food, in the same quantities as
those provided to Syrian refugees in urban refugee camps in Jordan. That's a
small amount of rice, flour, lentils, beans, fish and oil. That's it! No coffee,
no alcohol (!!) and very few nutrients. The money we raise will provide refugees
with urgently needed food rations, medical care and education. This year more
than ever we need to raise awareness and much needed funds to help people.
People who have had to leave their homes and are now relying on us. Let's not
fail them.

How you can help

Would you like to support me? Great! There are two ways to help...

Sponsor me

I have a sponsorship page at www.rationchallenge.org.uk/audrey-macnaughton and
you can donate as little or as much as you like.

Ration Challenge journal

I've been keeping a Ration Challenge journal! You can read my hunger-addled
ramblings and thoughts about the whole experience in an exclusive 'mini-memoir'
as a PDF. Only £2 and all the money goes to Concern Worldwide.
