Our 30 years of history working with China demonstrates a successful track
record in delivering large and complex infrastructure projects, from nuclear
power plants and high-speed railways to highways, cities and buildings. 

Mainland China continues to be a key growth market in Egis’s reorganised
Asia-Pacific region and a significant factor in our global strategy. Our
strengthened footprint in Beijing, partnerships with key Chinese
SOEs (state-owned enterprises) and our new Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong
Kong also support this positioning.  We also aim to continue French
participation in joint knowledge development with China to
foster opportunities with Chinese EPC companies in international markets where
Egis has a strong presence.

A PARTNER FOR THE UNPRECEDENTED.

Egis has been operating in mainland China for over 30 years, largely enabled by
the bilateral trade relations between France and the People’s Republic of China.
We have contributed our global expertise in large and complex infrastructure and
our cutting-edge technologies, practice and skills to key phases of the
French-Sino partnership in engineering and technological advancement across the
renewable energy, high speed rail, aviation and highway market sectors.

We have played a part in several infrastructure projects that were unprecedented
at the time of development and may still be so today. These include:

 * the design of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant
 * the design of Taishan EPR Nuclear Power Plant: the first EPR reactor deployed
   globally at the time
 * construction supervision of high speed railways: enabling the then
   highest-ever designed speed of 420km/h
 * and highways, urban and environmental planning

All these projects have seen partnerships maturing between Egis and our Chinese
partners in which each side has learned about the other’s standards, skills and
practices across different design, engineering and operations disciplines, such
as Eurocodes and China’s indigenous codes for complex structures. This has
resulted in connecting the French / European and Chinese standards for joint
work not only on the domestic Chinese and French markets but also in third
markets of mutual interest including Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East,
Africa and Latin America.

A BRIGHT FUTURE.

A new wave of opportunities is expected to come from the mutual French and
Chinese commitment to the carbon emission control goals set forth in the Paris
Climate Agreement. We also anticipate that China may further open its
state-funded and commercial infrastructure markets to foreign infrastructure
service providers such as Egis. Our track record in the local market and global
network of knowledge and competencies continue to position us as a valuable
partner for the Chinese government, state-owned and private clients in the
fields of smart infrastructure, mobility, high performance buildings and
sustainable urban development. Driven by China’s ambitious 14th Five-Year Plan
and the European Connectivity Strategy, we are confident of our ability to
continue delivering new projects and creating new knowledge together with China
and its people.

Our long history on the mainland Chinese market and working with Chinese
developers overseas has positioned us as a trusted partner on engineering and
consultancy services. While we will continue to develop our partnership with
Chinese customers and partners on large infrastructures, we have also developed
deep penetration in the building and planning market sectors through strategic
acquisitions, including 10 Design for architecture and planning, and Inhabit
specializing in façade and environmental design.

As China further opens its infrastructure service market to foreign providers
and displays high demand for sustainable development through new infrastructure,
we will continue to support our work in China in the following market sectors:
aviation, rail and urban transit, roads, ports and waterways, water, energy,
cities and buildings.
