To commemorate Autism Awareness Day, students and staff at Canoas Elementary
dressed in blue for "Light it Up Blue" day. During a schoolwide assembly,
everyone gained a better understanding of autism, the significance of inclusion,
and the importance of celebrating the unique gifts and talents of all students
with autism. Canoas Elementary is home to the district's only elementary
moderate to severe autism program, and we have several schools with special day
classes tailored for students with autism.

Hacienda Science/Environmental Magnet received a proclamation from Councilmember
@PamFoleyd9 and @DavidCohensj, declaring April 2024 as Earth Month 🌎 in the
@cityofsanjose. We are incredibly proud of the Hacienda team for their efforts
in raising awareness and inspiring environmental action and sustainability among

San José Unified Day at the @panthersifl game was an afternoon of action-packed
fun and community! Kicking off the season with a win, we're so grateful for
everyone who joined us, cheering as San José Unified lit up the big screen! 🏈✨

It was traffic and safety week at Simonds Elementary 🚥 Students learned about
healthy transportation behaviors and safety education from the city of San
José’s Walk n Roll team. SJPD motorcycle officers also visited to support
pedestrian crosswalk and driver safety.

Broadway High hosted its quarterly awards night to recognize honor roll students
and students who exemplified Broadway’s positive behavior expectations. It’s a
joyous occasion to celebrate student improvement and academic accomplishments
and we are incredibly proud of all the students for their determination and
perseverance!
