ABOUT US

DEcadence? DeCaDANCE? DeKAWdence? No matter what you call us, DeCadence
("duh-KAY-dence") is a student-run, all-inclusive a cappella group from UC
Berkeley that loves to add some music and fun to your day. We sing indie, pop,
jazz, and any other genre that comes our way, often while sporting our iconic
gold capes. Check out our repertoire page to see the type of music we sing.



EVENTS

Our Spring 2024 concert, "DeCadence Surfs the Web," is happening Sunday April
21st at 1:30 PM in Genetics & Plant Bio 100, and Saturday April 27th at 1:30 PM
at First Presbyterian Church. Presale tickets are available here!

   In an era where the East meets West, in the sprawling city of Beijing, under
   the watchful gaze of the ancient Forbidden City, was born Bodreld, known to
   many as Bob of the Twin Skies. His tale is a tapestry of two worlds, woven
   from the vibrant threads of Eastern tradition and the bold colors of Western
   artistry.
   
   Bodreld, son of Junhong the Sage and Mei of the Blossoming Garden, first
   opened his eyes to the world in the heart of China’s vast expanse. His
   father, Junhong, a man of profound knowledge and deep thought, imparted the
   wisdom of the East, teaching Bodreld the virtues of balance and harmony. His
   mother, Mei, graceful as the willow and wise as the ancient texts, nurtured
   in him a love for the arts and the beauty of expression.
   
   As a young lad, Bodreld’s life was a dance between two worlds. In the
   bustling streets of Beijing, he breathed in the scents of jasmine and ink,
   the sounds of the erhu mingling with the distant hum of the city. Yet, in the
   sun-kissed boulevards of Los Angeles, he found a different rhythm, a pulsing
   beat of creativity and freedom. Here, amidst the stars of Hollywood and the
   endless blue of the Pacific, Bodreld’s heart found its second home.
   
   With a soul aflame with passion for performance art, Bodreld trod the boards
   of theatres, his voice echoing in the hallowed halls of drama and song. In
   the flickering light of the cinema, his eyes gleamed with stories untold, and
   under the spotlight of the concert stage, his fingers danced upon the strings
   of his guitar, weaving melodies that bridged his two worlds.
   
   Bodreld, the Wanderer of the East and West, became a minstrel of modern
   times, his art a bridge over the vast seas, his tales a blend of ancient lore
   and new-world dreams. In him, the spirit of Beijing’s ancient alleys and LA’s
   sprawling avenues found a harmonious echo, a symphony of the old and the new,
   forever entwined in the saga of Bodreld, the Bard of the Twin Skies.
