LOUISIANA’S FIRST CHOICE FOR COLLEGE ACCESS

More About LOSFA

The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) is a Program of the
Louisiana Board of Regents, administering the state’s scholarship and grant
programs, and the state’s Internal Revenue Code Section 529 college savings
program. Through outreach services, LOSFA is also active in the dissemination
and support of college access information and services with a concentration on
assisting students from low-income families and first-generation college
attendees, in locating and obtaining the resources necessary to pursue and
complete a postsecondary education.

LOSFA strives to be Louisiana’s first choice for college access. Our three-part
process allows students to continue their education – beyond high school – by
promoting, preparing for and providing equity of college access.
 * Promote.

   We promote college access through educational programs, FAFSA completion
   support, college access browses, integrated business and industry visits,
   postsecondary campus visits, comprehensive communications and outreach, and
   more, as the state’s expert source of information on financial assistance.

 * Prepare.

   We prepare students for college success by providing academic tutoring
   support services, ACT/SAT standardized test preparation activities,
   comprehensive mentoring, educational programs, financial literacy resources,
   college/career counseling and advising, student network groups, dual
   enrollment support, summer camps, and more.

 * Provide.

   We provide college financial assistance and related support services by
   administering Louisiana’s merit-based Taylor Opportunity Program for Students
   (TOPS) scholarship, need-based Louisiana GO Grant scholarship, LOSFA’s Go
   Youth ChalleNGe Grant, START Saving Plan and K12 Saving Plan, and more.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Individuals attempting to complete the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may experience intermittent issues with the
Federal Student Aid (FSA) website due to high traffic associated with
the Student Loan Debt Relief Plan, also scheduled to launch in October. As a
result, some pages may take longer to display than usual, and users may have
trouble logging into an existing FAFSA. Users experiencing issues can call the
FSA hotline at 1-800-433-3243 to speak with a real person for help, but the live
chat feature will not be accessible unless the user is logged into their FAFSA.
Users can visit the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) website to
access live chat and email options.

FSAIC Hours of Operation:
Monday–Friday: 8 a.m.–11 p.m. Eastern time (ET)
Saturday–Sunday: 11 a.m.–5 p.m. ET
Closed on federal holidays; June 19 and 20, in observance of Juneteenth; the day
after Thanksgiving; and Dec. 24 and 26. Open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and
President’s Day.

Schools that have scheduled a FAFSA Completion event with LOSFA should contact
their assigned LOSFA representative ahead of their event to discuss the status
of the FSA website. Events may need to be rescheduled if the FSA website is
unavailable.

LOSFA is also available to provide FAFSA-related assistance to students and
parents:
·      FAFSA Assistance Virtual Office Hour sessions – one-on-one assistance
with FAFSA Completion
·      GeauxFAFSA@la.gov – email FAFSA-related questions to LOSFA staff

Sign up at the Department of Education subscription page for more information
and to be notified when the Student Loan Debt Relief process has officially
