Sun Tzu is thought to have been a military general and adviser to the king of
the southern Chinese state of Wu during the sixth century BCE. Although some
modern scholars have called his authorship into doubt, the world's most
influential and enduring treatise on military strategy, The Art of War, bears
his name.
Sun Tzu fue un general, estratega militar y filósofo de la antigua China. El
nombre por el que lo conocemos es en realidad un título honorífico que significa
«Maestro Sun». Su nombre de nacimiento era Sun Wu y fuera de su familia era
conocido por su nombre de cortesía, Changqing. Tradicionalmente se le considera
el autor de El arte de la guerra, un influyente tratado sobre estrategia
militar. Sun Tzu ha tenido un impacto significativo en la historia y culturas
china y asiática, tanto por escribir El arte de la guerra como por ser una
figura histórica legendaria.

I bought this book because of all the good reviews! This book is terrible and I
am extremely disappointed! And I'm trying to understand what book were others
writing a review! Thankfully when I went to purchase this book I discovered I
could DOWNLOAD a VERSION for FREE. I downloaded the free version, but I wanted a
HARDCOPY for my personal library. This book is a 375 page waste of time! It only
have 66 pages of an awful translation of the 13 Chapters of Sun Tzu Art of War.
Hence, its a book filled with 162 pages on the Historical Background, etc; and
138 pages and a few empty pages etc. View photo of Contents. If you want a
detailed history book on Sun Tzu period of the Art of War this is the book for
you. I'm so thankful for the Free Download Version translated by Lionel Giles
and I just purchased another Sun Tzu Art of War by the same translator. Save
yourself some Money by purchasing another Version or simply Download the Free
Version because it's far better than this book!

Sawyer amazed me when I started reading this book. Before even coming to the Art
of War, we get an indepth explanation of how China was at that time and a
discussion whether Sun Tzu actually existed. The book gives you what you want
and more. I especially like when Sawyer talks about Sun Tzu helping Wu against
the Chu, and the battle between Wu and Yue. It can be irritating at the start as
the "Art of War" part isn't before long in the book.
All in all an amazing book, I'm not an academic person so treat my review with a
little bit of salt. Plus English is not my first language so I may have spelling
errors in this review.
