As of this article writing there are two main editions of Docker – Docker CE ( Community Edition) and Docker EE ( Enterprise edition). This article will be focused in the installation of Docker CE on various distributions of Linux operating system. Docker is a container runtime engine which allows you to package an application with all of its dependencies into a standardized unit for software development. Docker containers wrap up a piece of software in a complete filesystem that contains everything it needs to run: code, runtime, system tools, system libraries – anything you can install on a server. This guarantees that it will always run the same, regardless of the environment it is running in. Here we’ll cover installation of Docker CE on Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and CentOS and Arch Linux distributions. 1) INSTALL DOCKER ENGINE ON UBUNTU Uninstall Old version of Docker. Old versions of docker had the name docker or docker-engine. If you have it installed, first uninstall it. sudo apt update sudo apt remove docker docker-engine docker.io 2>/dev/null Firestick Quit Working? Here’s th... Jeana October 11, 2023 At 3:48 pm “Set up stable repository” doesn’t work on last Debian version. It shows: E: The repository ‘https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu bookworm Release’ does not have a Release file. N: Updating from such a repository can’t be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default. N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details. Reply 2. Jeana October 11, 2023 At 4:39 pm It works finally. I had to reinstall Debian because i started the tutorial for Ubuntu. Thanks. Reply * Josphat Mutai October 13, 2023 At 1:21 am Nice!
