BACK IN ACTION

After a somewhat lengthy hiatus, oleskiw.ca is back.  Also, since February 2017
I am employed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for Howard Hughes Medical
Institute in the Laboratory for Computational Vision at New York University’s
Center for Neural Science under the supervision of Eero Simoncelli.  I am also
advised by Tony Movshon, Principal Investigator of NYU’s Visual Neuroscience
Laboratory.

DIVISIVE INHIBITION VIA INPUT TIMESCALE

We have some exciting results from a project looking at mechanisms of gain
modulation in spiking neurons. I’ll be presenting this work at cosyne next week!

Our work on SRF models of V4 shape tuning has been accepted by the Journal of

COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE TRAINEE

I have been selected as a trainee under the new Computational Neuroscience
Training Grant at the University of Washington. This scholarship will provide
funding for a Ph.D. program through 2011 and 2012.

RESEARCH SCIENTIST AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON

I have begun research at the Washington National Primate Research Center under
the codirection of Prof. Anitha Pasupathy and Dr. Wyeth Bair.  This position is
funded by the ShapeLab in the Department of Biological Structure at the
University of Washington, Seattle.

M.SC. COMPLETION

I have sucessfully defended a Master’s thesis through the Department of Computer
Science at York University entitled On the Perceptual Organization and
Computational Representation of Natural Planar Shape.  All degree requirements
were completed on November 30th, 2010.
