Globe & Citizen has set out to be Web3.0’s premier distributed news network. We
are made possible by the dedicated work of contributors spread around the world.

GLOBE & CITIZEN: NEWS OF OUR WORLD


WHAT

Globe & Citizen is a fully remote company operated from locations spread around
the world. Our goal is to innovate and iterate until we are Web3.0’s premier
distributed news network. We are not a DAO. Rather, we are organizing as the
world’s first Crypto Native Corporation.


WHY

Global concerns such as pandemics, inflation, and climate change, to name only a
few, are issues that cannot be solved by any one nation acting alone. Therefore,
we have set out to create a global forum that is free from singular or
centralized regional interests. Leveraging the incredible advances in
information technology and the Web3.0 space, such an aspiration is very much
possible.


HOW

The team is working hard to lay the foundations for Globe & Citizen in the form
of Celebrity Fanalyzer, a celebrity gossip blog. The goal is threefold:


 1. To create a platform where opensource ranking algorithms can be developed,
    and chosen, by users.
 2. Make accessible the fully anonymized metadata associated with any particular
    piece of content allowing users to see an unbiased “opinion-scape.”
 3. Develop a framework for algorithmic compensation to incentivize independent
    journalists and regional news agencies to publish and participate on our
    platform.

The technology necessary to accomplish these three goals already exists. The
challenge is in execution. Using Celebrity Fanalyzer as a learning platform, we
are hard at work trying to make Globe & Citizen a reality.

   Build Celebrity Fanalyzer
   
   Celebrity Fanalyzer is an iteration engine: give us your feedback! We try to
   release a new version every month. We are particularly interested in how to
   tweak contributor compensation for participating.

 * 2023/2024
   Build Layer 8
   
   Ultimately, our goal is to launch Celebrity Fanalyzer behind a custom built
   anonymizing end-to-end encryption proxy scheduled for development in late
   2023 that we call “Layer 8.” To see Layer8 in action, you can explore the
   exposed global object here through the developer console.

   Make it a DAPP
   
   Celebrity Fanalyzer is one of many projects exploring how cryptocurrency can
   be used. Our goal is to make Celebrity Fanalyzer a DAPP (a Distributed
   APPlication) by connecting it to a blockchain. Anyone with a crypto wallet
   should be able to participate in our competitions, give their opinion, and
   get paid if they contribute meaningfully.

   Connect Celebrity Fanalyzer to Layer8
   
   How to determine the definition of 'better' when opinions are subjective by
   definition? The simplest way is to implement a centralized process but this,
   of course, means only a single perspective is represented. A decentralized
   process model is necessary and this is a hard problem. Once Layer 8 is
   deployed, Celebrity Fanalyzer will have vast amounts of anonymous data to
   analyze freely. How to rank (and reward) authors who contribute the 'best'
   work? The answer is to-be-determined. Give us your thoughts! Give us your
   feedback!

   Launch Globe and Citizen
   
   Deep fakes, fake media, toxic hate speech, and social media manipulation:
   this is the reality of the internet today. How to decentralize control of the
   media we consume but still provide a quality online service on par with a
   centralized one? Once Layer 8 is established, the AI ranking algorithm is
   open sourced, and Celebrity Fanalyzer is a successful DAPP, it’s finally time
   to launch Globe & Citizen — our answer to this question. Reach out to us if
