Mediaite KAYLEIGH MCENANY BUMMED OUT AFTER OHIO VOTERS ENSHRINE ABORTION RIGHTS IN CONSTITUTION: ‘WE CONTINUE THE LOSING STREAK IN THE PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT’ By Michael Luciano, 2023-11-08 A despondent Kayleigh McEnany was sorely disappointed after Ohio voters elected to enshrine reproductive rights in the state’s constitution on Tuesday night. Shortly after Fox News called the vote in favor of “ Yes ” on Issue 1, McEnany lamented the electoral state of the anti-abortion movement. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health , which overturned a constitutional right to abortion, Republican-dominated states have enacted a series of restrictions and bans on the procedure. However, in several states, they have been thwarted by the electorate via referendum. “On the issue of abortion in Ohio tonight, we continue the losing streak in the pro-life movement,” McEnany told Sean Hannity . “Every ballot initiative has been lost post- Dobbs for the pro-life movement. As a party, Sean, we must, we must not just be a pro-baby party. That’s a great thing. We must be a pro-mother party. We need a national strategy… to help vulnerable women because the results of next year’s election could be determined by that.” Last year, Ohio’s Republican-controlled legislature and governor implemented a six-week abortion ban, but an appeals court blocked it. Abortion activists succeeded in getting the issue on the ballot. When they did, Republicans tried to change the rules for amending the constitution from a simple majority to 60%. That effort failed in August, paving the way for Tuesday’s results, which, as of this writing, show “Yes” on Issue 1 having notched 56% of the vote. Watch above via Fox News.
