These are difficult times for classical music lovers. The next couple of months,
I mean.

The short days and long nights of winter make for especially inhospitable
conditions for concertgoers of a certain inertia. If you’re not, say, on
deadline to file a review, it can feel next to impossible to defy one’s natural
nighttime impulse to pajamify and, instead, bundle up and venture out into the
frigid darkness in pursuit of one’s kicks. I get it, and I’m here to tell you it
doesn’t have to be this way.
