Oh man I love and played the crap out of both of those games. Cruisin Blast is
flat out absurd and a blast in 4 player split screen, although it has the most
aggressive rubber banding I've EVER seen. You won't win any race by more than a
tenth of a second no matter what you do and heaven help you if you run out of
boost at the end. It can be super frustrating. Runs really well single player,
but when you get to 4 player there are some noticeable frame drops - although
tbh idk if my friends noticed because all the other insanity on the screen
distracts from technical issues… Read More

It's a really competent arcade racer, I've got it for ps5 and really enjoyed it
in solo play, havent tried any of the multiplayer.

There were quite a few microtransaction for cars/courses, but I mostly ignored
them, the base game has plenty of tracks and cars.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of steering assistance with Hot Wheels
Unleashed? I'm having no luck finding an answer online.

I have a 5 year old without much video game experience, but he loves Hot Wheels.
I'd love to get this for him.

I have it on the PS5 and there isn't. However I have two 5yo's and a 7yo, and
they all enjoy it.

My biggest issue with the game is that a lot of the content is locked away and
you have to earn it or buy it. This includes extra tracks & cars and even
impacts the "Quick Race" and "Time Trial" modes. Earning it isn't too hard, but
it is time consuming and will likely fall to you if your kids are just learning
video games.

For what it's worth, MK8 has steering assistance and motion controls that my
kids all love. With that said, in a way, I think the Hot Wheels approach is good
as it is teaching them more real controls and honestly one of my 5yo's is
starting to hold her own.

Oh man I love and played the crap out of both of those games. Cruisin Blast is
flat out absurd and a blast in 4 player split screen, although it has the most
aggressive rubber banding I've EVER seen. You won't win any race by more than a
tenth of a second no matter what you do and heaven help you if you run out of
boost at the end. It can be super frustrating. Runs really well single player,
but when you get to 4 player there are some noticeable frame drops - although
tbh idk if my friends noticed because all the other insanity on the screen
distracts from technical issues.

Hot wheels I actually ran through on easy just to unlock as much as possible,
but it feels like that only applies to the opponent racer AI so some of the time
trials (half the events) are still really hard to complete. It seems to have a
pretty deep track creator, but I got frustrated with it after 3 minutes and
haven't gone back to it. Hot wheels, unlike Cruisin, is available elsewhere, and
I double dipped and got it on PS5. If you care about performance and graphics,
its quite jarring how much better it looks on PS5 (and I assume any other
system). I wanted something to play portably on a business trip, so I got it on
switch first. Definitely noticeable performance issues even in first person, but
not enough to stop me from binge playing it all the way from San Francisco to
Chicago and back.

One other thing about hot wheels: at times it feels oddly like you are
racing...actual hot wheels. If you've ever set up the physical hot wheels tracks
and tried to keep your hot wheels on them and seen how difficult it is to keep
them from just falling off and going under the couch or whatnot then you'll
definitely get a sense of that at times. At first I got kind of annoyed because
I was thinking of this as more of a regular racing game and I thought the
handling or track design or something was off, but then when I realized that it
felt like what would happen with actual hot wheels on those orange tracks I was
in.

Hot wheels has a bunch of DLC last I checked on PS5, idk if that's on switch
yet. I think I say at least three $15 expansions, but the main game has plenty
of content to justify $20. Tbh Cruisin Blast does too, but hot wheels will take
you longer.

Idk if any of this helps, but I couldn't pass up an excuse to compare both these
games when I saw your post.
