Nine school districts in Hunterdon and Middlesex counties will be receiving a
share of nearly $25 million in state aid to establish or expand preschool
programs that will start by January.

The school districts and the amount of state aid they received are:

HUNTERDON COUNTY

 * Clinton Town-Glen Gardner, $607,248
 * Clinton Township, $966,030
 * East Amwell, $520,170
 * Flemington-Raritan, $1,228,968
 * Franklin, $356,688
 * Frenchtown, $428,904
 * Readington, $1,552,410.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY

 * Dunellen, $444,180
 * Highland Park, $559,308

In all 26 districts throughout New Jersey will receive the Preschool Expansion
Aid.

The money will add more than 1,715 seats to the state's preschool system,
building on the Gov. Phil Murphy Administration’s goal to provide every 3- and
4-year-old child in New Jersey with access to a free, full-day pre-K program,
according to a news release.

"If breakfast is the most important meal of the day to have the fuel needed for
that day, then it only goes to follow that universal pre-kindergarten serves the
same purpose in strengthening, energizing, and building confidence in our
youngest learners so that they have the preparation and stamina needed to access
learning for the duration of their academic careers," said Karen Bingert, the
former Hillsborough High School principal who is now executive director of the
New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, in the release. "From a
strong foundation comes increased and equitable opportunities for success, and I
commend Gov. Murphy, Acting Governor Tahesha Way, and their administration for
continuing universal Pre-K expansion, clearly not content to stop until there is
a Pre-K seat for every New Jersey child."
