Our process consists of a careful yet thorough wash with a cleanser to remove dirt, dust, and other contaminants. EVEN NEW CEDAR NEEDS CARE AND PROTECTION It is recommended that you oil your new cedar as it is installed for the most protection, then again 1 year later to ensure ongoing protection from UV rays and harsh weather. ONGOING MAINTENANCE THE ONGOING MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FOR A LONG AND HAPPY RELATIONSHIP Regular timber maintenance significantly increases its life span. Wood oil maintains the visual appeal of your timber while protecting its durability. After initial consultation and inspection of your property, we will custom design a maintenance program for your property and advise of any repairs and maintenance. QUICK GUIDE TO YOUR MAINTENANCE TIMELINE CLADDING We recommend re-coating every 2 years for coloured oils and 3-5 years for a clear coat. This can vary depending on its exposure to the elements. DECKS Due to these being high traffic areas, the wear and tear happens faster, so we recommend maintenance every 3-4 years FENCES Timber fence maintenance is similar to that of cladding, depending on the location and exposure to direct sunlight or rain – so you’re looking at a date every 2-4 years as required IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE SUN AND WEATHER ASPECT OF YOUR TIMBER AND USE OF THE AREA. THE MORE YOU RE-COAT THE LONGER IT WILL LAST AND THE BETTER IT WILL LOOK. Stains – Timber stain provides a film barrier to the surface of the timber, making the timber look new and healthy again. Staining requires 2 x coats. Oil – Wood oils deeply penetrate the timber and cedar to replace any natural oils lost, giving it longer, lasting nourishment and protection. Oils can be tinted to match existing timber colour and allows the natural grain of the wood to be seen through, only requiring one coat at a time.
