GIGAVUE 5.10.01 EXTENDS HARDWARE AND VMWARE SUPPORT, ADDS THREATINSIGHT TO VAF

In the latest GigaVUE® 5.10.01 software release, generally available as of
August 28, Gigamon brings new innovations in hardware and software to the
Gigamon Visibility and Analytics Fabric™ (VAF).
With the increase in sophisticated attacks and the need for higher performance
networks to support the demand in traffic growth, the new innovations provide
enhanced security, higher bandwidth, more flexibility, extended private cloud
support and much more.
The top innovations include:
1. Double performance boost to GigaVUE-HC1 visibility node: With the
third-generation GigaSMART® module, the GigaVUE-HC1 is getting twice the
performance of the built-in GigaSMART engine. It now has up to 80G capacity
per module and two modules per chassis. Along with the built-in GigaSMART
engine, you get greater performance and flexibility for higher-load
applications and more application chaining.
2. ThreatINSIGHT™ sensor integration: The GigaVUE-HC1 has primarily served as a
visibility node, transforming network flows before feeding to security and
performance tools, such as ThreatINSIGHT. Now, the ThreatINSIGHT sensor is
integrated as a hosted application on the new third-generation GigaSMART
module in GigaVUE-HC1 nodes, in support of ThreatINSIGHT NDR (network
detection and response) functions to proactively protect the network. The
combined capabilities simplify deployments and eliminate the need for a
dedicated standalone sensor appliance. It is all managed, provisioned and
troubleshot from the GigaVUE-FM Fabric Manager.
3. Flexible Traffic Aggregator: As the need for higher speeds and bandwidth
continues to grow whilst lower network speeds are still in operation, the
introduction of the 2Tbps high-throughput GigVUE-TA25 traffic aggregator
supports various speeds 1G/10G/25G/40G/100G, enabling flexibility and
investment protection for organizations. The new GigVUE-TA25 provides three
times the performance compared to GigaVUE-TA10 and also brings additional
capabilities.
4. The right-sized Traffic Aggregator for small locations: Remote locations and
smaller installation sites that require traffic aggregation are now able to
leverage a brite box from Dell. The Dell S4112F-ON 12-port SFP+ and 3-port
QSFP28 switches run GigaVUE-OS and can be managed by GigaVUE-FM, similar to
any GigaVUE TA Series product.
5. Enhanced cloud support: The second-generation GigaVUE V Series (a key
element of GigaVUE Cloud Suite™) provides GigaSMART applications for
intelligent handling and transformation of traffic within VMware ESXi and
NSX environments. It also includes support for the latest VMware NSX-T 2.5
and 3.0 versions.
6. Simplified management and operation: Intent-Based Orchestration, which is an
integral element of GigaVUE-FM, simplifies and automates the configuration,
management and operation of the Gigamon Visibility and Analytics Fabric, and
has a slew of enhancements to further enhance the user experience. This
includes role-based access control (RBAC) to allow multiple users to share
traffic independently, hybrid port support to extend building a visibility
fabric, alarms to provide health status on devices and user-defined
attribute (UDA) filters to improve filtering on inner frame content without
using GigaSMART.
Additional innovations include enhanced scale and manageability in GigaVUE-FM,
GigaSMART technologies that improve application identification intelligence,
extended 4G/5G correlation that enhances subscriber intelligence for mobile
operators and a new high-density SFP+ active TAP.
