RESIDENCE AS SKILLED MIGRANT

TRANSITIONAL 180-POINT SYSTEM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 'old' Skilled Migrant Category system will operate until the new 6-point
system kicks in. Under this transitional 180-point SMC system, age, experience
and qualifications will come together and be counted.

For anyone who will not easily qualify under the new 6-point system, this will
be the last chance to apply for residence, unless the employment is on the Green
List or highly paid.

Make sure you contact us early for an assessment of your points, 180 points are
required, 179 get you nothing!

NEW 6-POINT SYSTEM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The new system begins early in 2023 and rewards those either in jobs where
professional registration is required, those with tertiary qualifications and
those who are highly paid.

This will be a superb opportunity for residence for migrants with qualifications
and in skilled employment

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARE THE BIG WINNERS UNDER THE NEW 6-POINT SYSTEM

A Masters graduate with 1 year of skilled work experience in New Zealand can
apply for residence.

A Bachelor graduate with 3 years of skilled work experience in New Zealand can
apply for residence.

You must study at least at level 7 (Bachelor) to gain points.
