internet. You can send messages and files and make audio and video calls without
adding to your phone bill. If you own a business, you can utilize the commerce
version of the messenger known as WhatsApp Business.

Both apps require a mobile number to function; but what if you want to use your
landline as your WhatsApp number? Here’s what you need to have before getting
started and how to go about it.




WHAT YOU NEED TO ACTIVATE WHATSAPP ON A LANDLINE

First, you need to download and install WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business from your
respective app store. If you already have either app in use, you can clone them.

On most Android phones, you’ll have to use third-party apps to install multiple
copies on WhatsApp. If you’re on a Samsung smartphone, you can take advantage of
the Dual Messenger feature. You can also clone WhatsApp on iPhone using a
third-party app.




HOW TO REGISTER A LANDLINE NUMBER ON WHATSAPP

The steps to register a landline phone number are similar to those for mobile.
But there's a slight difference in the process. Follow these steps:

 1. Open WhatsApp, select your language, and tap Agree and Continue.
 2. Enter your country code followed by your landline number and tap Next.
 3. Confirm whether the number is accurate and tap OK.
 4. WhatsApp will send a verification SMS to your number.
 5. If your landline can’t receive text messages, tap Did not receive code?
 6. You have two options; to resend the SMS or to receive a call. Use the second
    option.
 7. Before proceeding, you need to wait for about 90 seconds.
 8. Once the time elapses, tap Call Me and be near your landline.
 9. Pick up the phone when it starts ringing and enter the code that’ll be read
    to you by a bot.

WhatsApp will verify the code you enter and allow you to proceed to set up your
new WhatsApp account. If you want to use WhatsApp Business, the steps above are
identical—follow them and fill in all your business credentials if your business
has a landline as your main number.




SEND WHATSAPP MESSAGES FROM YOUR LANDLINE NUMBER

If you need an extra WhatsApp account, your landline is always available. You
can also create a WhatsApp account to boost customer or client reach without
having to register for a mobile number if your office or business uses a
landline.

In addition, the calling features on WhatsApp can help you reduce your phone
bill significantly.
