WELCOME TO THE BD MARKETING COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT TOOL

At BD, we have a culture to learn and grow together; “we learn and improve every
day” is one of our core values. BD Marketing’s vision aligns with that core
value: to be recognized as the best marketing organization at creating,
communicating, and capturing value for the customer and BD. However, we cannot
be the best if we do not know the skills and capabilities it takes to fulfill
that vision.

To build a world-class marketing organization, the BD Marketing Leadership Team
(BDMLT) has developed a competency model and development tool that highlight the
specific skills needed to be a successful marketer.

PLANNING FOR A SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE:

 * Please plan to invest ~60 minutes to complete a self-assessment. You will see
   additional questions if you lead a team, or if your responses direct you to a
   higher level in the competency model.
 * The assessment can be completed in multiple sessions. It will only be
   completed once you click “Submit” at the end
 * Before you begin, please review the information further below.
 * Use the Get Help button at any time for more information or if you have any
   technical issue. You can access the "Get Help" from any part of the
   assessment process.
   

More important information about the process, the tool and your privacy - select
to reveal.
 * By completing a self-assessment (and inviting your Manager to assess your
   skills), you will have a thorough view of your competencies, including areas
   you may wish to develop further.
 * Once you and your Manager have completed the assessment, a personal,
   confidential report will be emailed to just you within ten days.
 * It’s recommended to share your report with your Manager prior to a
   development or coaching conversation, to enable more focused discussion and
   assist you in building your career blueprint.
 * All data contained within your report is confidential and maintained by ZS
   Associates, our partner in developing this assessment. Any information
   provided to BD will be at the composite level (e.g., number of assessments
   completed, average competency levels, etc.) so that BD Marketing can
   determine where to invest training and development resources.
 * This assessment is not performance-related and will have NO bearing on your
   performance management or compensation outcomes
 * It is strongly suggested that you become familiar with the BD Marketing
   Competency Model before starting, getting any questions answered on things
   that are unclear. Note that you can access the Model at any time during the
   assessment.

 1. Go to your BD inbox and find an email from BDCompetencyTool@zs.com with the
    subject “BD Marketing Competency Development Tool”.
 2. In this email you will find a personalized link. Select it to access the
    tool, and follow the instructions from there.
 3. Do not share this link with anyone, since it is unique for you.
 4. If you do not have this email, please use the “Get Help” button below.

FAQ

Why are we doing this?
Given the ever-evolving needs of marketing around the world, and the different
buying expectations of our customers, the time was right for us to re-visit the
BD Marketing competency model. Our goal was to make this model simpler and
updated, with an easy online tool for self-assessment and progress tracking.
Ideally, we are enabling each of you to use this tool to proactively manage your
development and make an impact on your career journey. Completing this
self-assessment and getting input from your Manager will allow you to create a
development plan that aligns with your performance aspirations.



What is going to happen to the data collected in the online tool?


Your data will be retained confidentially in the system so that you can
self-assess over time, tracking your progress. The responses you give in the
tool will be visible to you only.

You will not be able to see your colleagues' personal data, and they cannot see
yours.

Who should I reach out to if I have questions about the competency model and
online tool?

You can contact your Marketing Leadership Team member or Manager for questions
on the model. For support using the system, please use the "Get Help" button on
these screens. You will be contacted directly so that the issue can be resolved.

Should I reach out to my manager before completing my assessment in the tool?

Please do! Given that you and your Manager need to complete the tool so that you
can receive your personal report, it would be beneficial to let them know you
are going to complete your portion and would like their support to complete
their assessment of you. They will also get system notifications when you start
an assessment, as will you if your manager starts their assessment of you.


Do I have to complete this in one session?

No. You can interrupt any session on the system and return at a later time using
the same link from the email you received from BDCompentencyTool@zs.com. If you
still have the tool open from a previous session, just continue there. You do
not have to use a 'save' button when pausing a session. Whether you close your
browser or not, responses are saved. When you have finished, you do need to
confirm this by selecting 'Submit' on the final screen, when you get that far.

Who assesses me?

In order to have a complete view of your competencies and skills, it's best for
you to conduct a self-assessment while your Manager conducts their own
assessment of you. This will provide the basis for a constructive development
discussion on your career journey.


What will happen as a result of completing the online tool?

The purpose of this tool is to support your learning and development planning.
When team members and their manager have both completed an assessment, a
personal report will be compiled and sent only to the person who completed the
self-assessment. The report combines the self-assessment with the Manager's
assessment. Participation should facilitate development discussions with your
Manager and should lead to a development plan that provides you with the
opportunities to advance your skills. The results should be reflected in your
individual development plan and career blueprint.

Do I have to do this? When?

We are asking each marketer to do this, as we feel it is important to your
development and career planning. The MLT will be tracking utilization of the
online tool to determine use and if there are needed improvements. The most
important aspect is creating the right career path and plan for you. We suggest
an annual review is the right cadence. We would like you to complete current
assessments by the end of September 2022.

Can I change my responses or 're-take' this?

During assessments, you can return to earlier screens and change your responses.
You cannot change your responses after you have selected 'submit' on the final
screen. But you can re-take the self-assessment (recommended at a later time),
to see how you are progressing compared to previous self-assessments or those
provided by your Manager.

What if I score myself low on some dimensions? Will this affect my performance
rating or compensation?

It is best to be honest with yourself: your self-assessment data is to help
inform your learning and development planning. You can do additional
self-assessments over time as part of your self-managed learning and career
development journey. In addition, your personal, confidential report will
indicate any results provided by your Manager, so you can see which areas you
might want to prioritize and focus on.

This self-assessment is not connected to your performance rating or
compensation.

Is this confidential – who can see my results?

Your individual responses will be retained by ZS Associates and only shared in
your personal, confidential report. Your manager does not receive a copy of your
report, but it is assumed you will discuss it together when planning your
ongoing development.

Can I see how I compare to my peers?

You cannot access your peers' results. You can only compare your results against
the benchmark for your job profile. The benchmark will be provided in your
personal, confidential report.

When will I receive my personal development report?

Once both you and your Manager have submitted completed assessments, you will
receive your personal, confidential report within ten working days of the last
submission. Your personal report is not the same as the copy of your responses,
which you receive on submission. It is compiled separately based on your
responses combined with your manager's. If you complete a self assessment, it's
a good idea to let your Manager know. We will also send them a notification,
although a personal one from you will be more impactful.
