A groundbreaking new study by the Union of Concerned Scientists shows that
fossil fuel producers, such as Chevron and ExxonMobil, are responsible for 37
percent of the total area burned by forest fires since the mid-1980s in the
western United States and southwestern Canada. This research provides clear
evidence linking damages from fires to the world's largest global carbon
polluters.



Among the top carbon producers, Chevron and ExxonMobil have continued to spew
greenwashing platitudes while resisting years of calls to reduce emissions. We
can't sit back and watch our communities go up in smoke while corporate profits
soar.

Write a letter today and urge fossil fuel CEOs to respond to demands from the
public and their own shareholders to slash heat-trapping emissions from their
operations and products, reducing the risk of wildfires.

attributes 37 percent of the total burned forest area in the western United

predicted climate impacts that communities are now experiencing, yet continued
to peddle climate deception and obstruct climate action. Policymakers, the

the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. As climate impacts mount, your company
will increasingly face lawsuits for knowingly pushing dangerous products and
contributing to foreseeable and preventable climate impacts.

emissions, which are increasing wildfire risk and damage in western North
