PRAGUE: Czech utility CEZ will start scaling back its coal-fired power plant
capacity in mid-2020, shutting three units with a capacity of more than 1
gigawatt, its chief executive was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

The units account for around 5 percent of CEZ's total annual capacity, daily E15
reported.

"CEZ Group will gradually phase out electric power from coal and move to
zero-emission sources of energy," CEZ Chief Executive Daniel Benes told E15 in
an interview, commenting on already announced plans to cut coal-power capacity
by more than half by 2035.
